    Post I was wondering...

Like let's say during one morning at around 11.am, I do some rather hardworking training for my Chest in the gym. Than many hours later, I feel like doing more Chest workout, thus I do even more Chest workout at home during around 6pm.

So I am wondering, by doing this 2nd chest workout in the same day, will it cause any negative effects for my first Chest workout of the day? Meaning training the 2nd time of the day preventing the muscles to grow I work out in the morning?

    ------------------
I don't have a great body, but as long as I work hard like now, I'm gonna reach there.

To me it sounds like your overtraining your chest. If you want to gain quality mass then training chest (heavy) once a week will suffice. But I will say it depends on how many sets and reps you do with chest on your chest workout. I mean if you only do 2 sets of bench for 6-8 reps then go home and do like 2-3 sets of flyes for 8-10 reps then I think that's ok.

    Thumbs down

    Not a good idea!

However, you could train chest in the morning and triceps in the eveing. That is called a split routine, which is used by many pro bodybuilders.

I agree with prince, working out twice a day is great if you've got the time but DON'T work the same muscle twice.

I employ multiple training sessions in a day and have found it very effective. For those that say multiples promote overtraining, they are correct. You will become overtrained if you perform them continualy or if you go all out in every session. After reading that Charles Staley and Charles Poliquin both highly endorsed this type of training, I became very intrigued by multiples. Here is how I have made them work for me:
1)Employ multiples for a 4 week cycle.Follow this cycle with 1-2 weeks of regular training(i.e.-no multiples). Then you can return to multiples for another 4 week cycle.
2)Perform no more than two multiples per week. For your other workouts, perform only one workout per day.
3)Don't follow the same format during multiples(i.e.-I do low rep strength work in the morning and higher rep mass work in the evening)
4)Keep your workouts extremely brief. After warming up, you should be done with your workout in no more than 45 minutes.30 would be ideal.
5)Keep a close eye on recovery.Increase your intake of vitamins/minerals/water/protein.If you can swing it, get a sports massage once every couple of weeks(massage schools have cheap rates because their students are still learning).
Sorry for the long post, but I believe that correctly performed multiples can be very beneficial to one's training.Hope this helped answer your question. If you need further info or material references, please let me know.

If you are on steriods you could handle working on the muscle twice in one day. That is why a lot of the workout routines you see in the muscle mags show a professional body builder working out on the same muscle more then once. You can workout different part of the muscle in the same day, but I believe somebody on this site said that is not possible.

Funny you mention him, he just tried to infiltrate the board with a different name. I just finished deleting every post he made in the last 12 hours.

What I don't understand is if he hates this board so much, why does he continue to come here? Mental case.

Good save Prince! I know who you're talking about. The user had some kind of oriental looking name. The funny thing is, I THOUGHT it was Cack after reading a post where he insulted someone. Something about "LMFAO, I'd like to see you prove that!". At least that guy is consistent, no matter what name he uses.

I would definitely not recommend training 2 times per day, especially the same muscle group.

You are young, small, not on AS. Just go to the gym 3 days per week. Eat like a horse. When you are not eating or at the gym, rest!!! Get plenty of sleep and drink plenty of water. You will grow. Just be consistant. Do not try to force muscle growth, it won't happen. You grow outside of the gym, not in it. Get in, work hard, but briefly and get out and eat!

That is true Maki, we don't really know for sure.

But his posts are almost "identical" in language to Cackerot's way of posting, if that makes sense. So, I think it's a pretty damn good assumption!

If Cackerot could just learn to be civil, he would be welcome to post here. I will NOT let this board turn into another mm.com or elite.

    Maki,
I wasn't trying to imply that Burger King was Sir Cack, I was just stating that whoever Sir Cack is, not to let him get under your collar. I respect Sir Cack's opinions and some of his stuff is very relevant, but I'm just tired of him flaming everybody that doesn't 100% agree with what he say's.

As for working your chest twice a day, that is fine, just don't do it for a extended period of time without cycling the volume and intensity among other things down.

For ex, work chest in the am with higher reps and in the Pm low reps. That is just one example.
You would not be "overtraining the chest"
Overtraining occurs after a long period of time of stressing the body with limited recovery time in between sessions.
