    abs question

I dunno what you'd call the muscles, but I'm looking to develop that v-shape in the lower abdomin that goes from your sides into your waste. I do all kinds of ab exercises and haven't been able to get these muscles to show. Anyone have suggestions?

although it has been said like 50 times all over this site:
"abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym."
prince and others know much more about than me but you can't target just one area of your abs work. you also can't "spot reduce." fat comes off your whole body when you lose it. do cardio, eat healthy, and do ab work outs twice a week to get your abs showing.

I think you're referring to the way the obliques taper in. First of all you need to be very lean, 4-6% bodyfat, secondly you need to have the genetics to have that look, not everyone does no matter how lean they get.

If you posess the genetics, getting lean (thru proper diet), training abs and the obliques will get the desired result.

Genetics play a huge role in this. For some reason, my obliques are pretty visible at about 15% bodyfat, but the tops of my abs are just barely visible. It seems to that most people have it the other way around. Their rectus begins to show at about 10-15%; the obliques begin to show below that.

    I don't know about 4-6% -- I'm around 10-11% and I'm still able to see my V-Taper.

we all store bf a little differently.

most males carry the majority of bf in the abdomen, so that is the last place they get lean, that is why I said 4-6% for the V-Taper, but I guess it also depends on how defined of a V-Taper we are talking about as well.
