    Help

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and really new to lifting. I was wondering if someone could give me some insight on a problem I'm having with my Deltoids. It seems as if it isnt gaining anything. I'm constantly increasing weight with all other exersises and get results, also I feel that the muscle had been worked, but the side lateral flys just dont seem to be going anywhere. When I have increased weight in the past, I would loose good form (which is no good). It just seems to me that my deltoids are slower developing than the rest of my body. Does anyone have an alternate exercise that I could do to work my deltoids more effectively?

Check out www.exrx.net for some suggestions. Don't necessarily follow the videos of the form though, because that guy has terrible form on a lot of lifts. Look around google to get a better idea of proper form. A few of my favorites are:

    Perpindicular dumbell rows
    Military dumbell press
    Upright barbell rows
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

While it's very possible your delt exercise of choice isn't the most effective you need to realize it may just be your body. Everyone has different strong and weak muscle groups, those that develope at a much faster or slower rate than others in their bodys. Before abandoning your current exercise program be very sure you've given it the chance it deserves. I'm gonna throw the number six months out there just as a starting point. If you've been training your delts the same way for six months and still don't see any significant improvement, THEN you need to investigate other training rountines for your delts.

P.S. I split my delts into front and back. I work my front delts with a couple of sets to failure of upright rows after my normal chest workout. I work my side and rear delts with a couple of sets to failure each of side and bent over laterals after my normal back routine. Give this a try and see what it does for you.

P.P.S. I may not be the best example, my father blessed me with good delts.
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???

Thank you all for your views and replies. I havent had the chance to do a full upper body workout yet. That wont be until Friday. But I did try the perpendicular dumbell rows. WOW! I felt that one and I didnt even do a complete set with them. I think that one will do. Thanks CowPimp.

    Join the club! LOL!!!

I have the same problem bro. Everything else grows great for me except delts and calves. I have noticed that you pay attention to form and that, to me, is very important. From the sound of it your delts are your "less stronger" body part. Does not mean it won't grow just that it will take longer and more work.

I know it is frustrating but listen to your body. As others have stated, make sure you give the exercise a chance. If it is not necassarily working try switching it up. Whatever you do, don't give up. They will eventually grow, maybe not at the rate of your stronger parts, but it will.
