sounds strange. is this coach a marine?
My lacrosse team just got a new strangth coach. He has us doing very light weights until failure and then moving right on to another lift. Example: Yesterday we did squat 185 20 times, than step ups with 100 pds 10 each leg, than very light weight leg curls and extensions to failure. Only 1 set for each lift and right on to the next with no rest. Than we did light shrugs to failure, light shoulder press to failure, light hammer rows to failure and dips to failure. No rst between any lift 1 set each. The only free weight lifts we did were the squat and step ups. What is this doing for us, what would be a better way to build speed, strength and agility. Or is this maybe just maintenance since we are in season?

the only thing I can see that doing is building up endurance, not strength.
how often are you doing this workout?
Are you kidding me????

We only lift 2- 3 times a week in season
Good for endurance, prolly using the antiquated form of periodization.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.
