What do you guys think about this article?

Sounds like a GREAT idea, I don't know why people didn't think about this before...now I can do my favourite exercise for cardio purposes?

I'm definitely using this for my next cardio routine...

High rep cleans are defenitly hard to do. Here are some things I have aagainst this though (not that it is a bad idea):

    1) The "clean" is a power exercise. The whole point about it is to be able to toss around some serious weight for doubles or triples. It is a full body exercise and very taxing but in my opinion I feel like it is an exercise, like deadlifts, that lends itself better to lower reps

    2) I owldn't recommend doing this at the end of your workout, like you would most cardio (ie bike, elptical, etc) because it is such a demanding exericse on the central nervous system. The force output is so great as well and if you are fatigued there is a danfer of over exerting yourself and possibly pulling a hammie. Now, you could try doing it on an off day but again the trashing the CNS takes would seem like it is to much.

    3) You are still lifting weight, even though the intensity is low, which still places pressure on the thoracic cavity and impedes the proper function of the left atria and ventricle, because blood can't get nack to the heart and out to the body as efficeintly with this pressure on the cavity. Which is something that you don't get when you do regular cardio, or even HIIT sprints for that matter.

    Just my opinions.

So Funky, you don't recommend I try this cardio routine twice a week with VERY light weight (I'm gonna do the first routine outlined with probably just the bar or up to 75 pounds...I clean 140 pounds for 5 sets of 5 reps usually)

I've read about much tougher cardio routines like kettlebells etc., this doesn't seem that tough...

    Peace.

Not a bad idea at all. However, going to low on the weights MAY (and hence I said MAY) overtrain certain people who use their off days for cardio or do cardio after or on the same day of weight training.

Still, I will defintely give this a shot sometime in the near future!

I will start this right away. Im going to try this for a month in place of running two to three miles on cardio days. I will only do these cardio days and not on workout days. Another words I will rpelace running on the tread for this workout. Cant wait this should build a great overall foundations.

I think article suggests that you should never try it at the end of your workouts. It would be a dumb idea to do clean cardio after a tough workout, considering how much it taxes the CNS and challenges the body in general.

Once was...make sure you get your form correct and checked first, power cleans are a complex exercise if you're new to them...but they will quickly become your favourite...actually maybe I like snatches more...the feeling of lifting a weight above your head is so empowering.

    Peace.

I am not recommending not trying it. Deffenitly give it a try. Actually, way before this article was written, about a year ago when I was getting into olympic lifting I used to go into the gym on an off day, when I would typically be doing cardio, and do light weight hang cleans and snatches to work on my form.

I think you and camro hit it on the head with these two stantments:

Try it. be careful and be smart and listen to your body if you are overtraining or not.
