Many things can contribute to overtraining, and not taking any days off from training is one of them.
No, overtraining is not the answer. Like I heard one time, overtraining is more complex than that.
So, Why don´t you workout 7 days a week ? I´m just curious.

i workout 6 days a week...if u count cardio a workout...i LIFT 4 times a week....

(thats all i remember for now!)
I train one or two muscle groups per day, that is why I don´t feel that I´m overtraining. Take for example the day when I do calf and forearms. It is pratically a day off.Originally posted by Prince

but it's not a day off, there are many complex processes in the body, i.e. cortisol levels, complete rest is very important.
Interesting fact. I wil look for more information regarding this.Originally posted by Prince

even pros have rest days. not as often as the casual or amatuer BB, but they do.

he is proud of this fact.
I know some people that workout everyday and only take rest days when they feel they need it. Sometimes they may go a 2 weeks straight without a break. Seems to work for them, I don't think I could do it though.

You can work out every day, as long as you decrease your workload and volume. FOr instance, instead of doing 100 reps for each body part each workout, you can hit that body part 4 or 5 times a week if you just go in and do 25 reps for that body part. Depending on your ability to recover, you can hit the same body part up to 3 times a week if you adjust volume/going to failure/rep tempo/rest time accordingly. Of course this requires a lot of experimentation.
Personally I do it the old-school way and do each BP once a week.
Peace.

i used to do whole body 3x a week and cardio every day. it tired me out tho, after a while i was so reluctant to go to the gym. now its much easier to get myself to go when im having an off day.
It's a mind thing for me - I could only stay SO motivated working out 7 days a week.

Im with Deez Nutz. I would be hard for me to have complete concentration in the gym, 7 days a week for weeks at a time. Its also nice to not worry bout the gym for a few days, and go out with friends, family and get things done without the gym being in the back of your mind.
I think its just as much mental as physical.

I think your cns would shrivel up and die if you never took a break.
I don´t have cns anymore, he retired.
yeah i locked mine up in a cage cause it was too much of a wuss
I could easily train 7 days a week and currently am doing 5, starting 6 with another cardio day in there, but I don't. I use to overtrain and it sure did kick my ass and I limit myself now to ensure that I don't kill myself. I tend to fade away mentaly before I do physicly though, but once my mind goes everything else follows and I crash. Thats why if I have a really stressful day I don't even go into the gym, just not worth getting hurt over it.

If I didn't have to work for a living I probably would wo 7days a week, but since I spend 10 to 12 hours a day 6 days a week working I can't.

quit

I tried that, then I run out of food and start getting all of these annoying phone calls about overdue payments, then the electricity gets shut off along with the water but at least I look good walking around in rags asking for spare change.

Working out's always been a stress reliever for me. Trying working your favorite muscle group when you have a bad day.Originally posted by DeadBolt

Hi, this is CATS bro I got a question. Is working out 5 days a week, same body parts, same excersises everyday one day 50% next 70% the next. Workout consist of
day 1:
Bench 70% (max)
Incline Bench
Squat 50%
Flys
Day 2:
Bench 50% (max)
Shoulder press
Squat 70% (max)
Triceps
Day 3: Repeat day 1
Day 4: repeat day 2
day 5: repeat day 1
Cause it seems like it but I am in Athletics (Sports) in school, and our coaches make us do this. I feel like I am over training, mood swings, , and my bro tells me I am. Even though I can effeciently do this (I go up in weight every other week) . So professional oppinions..is this and what should I do about it?
I have heard that you can work your abs as many days in a row without a rest and they recover better than other muscle groups.Am I taking advice from the mentally challenged or is there some truth to all this.
