I am looking for a safe curl exercise impingement wise
Note: in my case the root cause of bicep tendinitis comes from doing to much overhead pressing. However, I am looking for a curl exercise that is easy on my shoulders/tendons.
Does flexing the shoulders (preacher curls) mean increased risk of impingement? If this is true does it mean that incline curls are a low risk exercise or do you think regular dumbell curl is the best option impingement wise?
Incline curls? preacher curls? cable curls? regular dumbell curls,?standing high pulley cable curls? Lean over curls?
I would go with dumbell curls as you can concentrate on each arm at a time and also work within the safest range of motion for you.
I would avoid the preacher bench becasue placing the shoulder in flexion like that, with it over a bench, can impinge some of the tendons and muslces, especially the long head of the bicep which is being shortened as it helps to perform shoulder flexion.
Like wise incline dumbell curls will stretch the long head, as you are placing your shoulder in ext., which may cause you some agravation.
