    Leg workout

I have a really hard time getting myself to work my legs, for some reason its the one thing i really dont like doing, but i want to start working them more. What would be considered the number one best lift for legs? squats? if any one could help me out, i would really apreciate it! Thanks!

Most everyone hates to do legs. It's really a matter of mind over body. It's a love hate relationship. Personaly I love to train legs because there my weekest bodypart and I know every time I train them they are going to improve.

Yes squats would be the best leg movement being that they bring in every part of the leg as well as the rest of the body. But if your not comfortable with your form start light and work heavy on leg press untill you perfect your form on squats. But don't make it more complex than it is just get in there and train hard.

One more tip always push from your heals not the toes!! It makes a big difference.

Join the Club. I would say about 90 percent of the population hates training legs or neglects them completely.

Like he said, mind over matter. If you want something bad enough, you will find a way to do it.

Doing legs is definetly a mind obstacle you have to overcome; your legs are the foundation for the rest of your house with a weak foundation everything will cave right in. That being said I hated training legs for years and always found ways to avoid it. I think it hurt my progress in the long run because I developed everything above the waist and still looked like ethiopian below the waist. Just try and find a mental edge; challenge yourself eventually you'll enjoy it

    yea
My genetics are bad for legs plain and simple
so since they were so weak i was embarrased to squat with my friends who were working out with 100's on each side, while i was at 45's...
But now i do them constantly (err maybe continually is a better word)
    so i definetly see improvements

Working out and bodybuilding would be easy if it weren't for legs. I use to hate them with a passion, but now that I have decent legs I love leg day.

it wasn't until i got that "teardrop" look in my quads that I actually realized leg excercizes worked. Once you start seeing results it will be a whole no type of motivation, but till then you'll just have to push yourself.

I heard that if you really want your upper body to grow, you MUST work your lower body. I was just wondering why that is? I'm 19, not really training legs yet, just calves, and my upper body is pretty big. You're telling me as soon as i start training legs (eg: squats) my upper body will grow even further? WHY?

That is totally true! When I played football our strensth coach was the strength coach for the Utah Jazz, and he told us that and we were like "yeah right". We worked legs 3 times per week and upper body 2 times per week. It's true! Your upper body will grow to match your legs for the most part, but your legs will never grow to match your upper body. Haven't you seen the guys in the gym with the big arms and toothpick legs???

If you want big legs, you need to do: squats, leg press, hack squats/front squats, and SLDL EVERY leg day. Maybe even more

Leg presses are unnecessary. You can do front squats, one-legged squats, hack squats and other variations that are far more beneficial and recruit more fibers.

I do not like to do legs that much either. I have a routine that takes 6 days (one body part a day) and if I am to hit the next body part (chest) I have to do my legs. No skipping days. It is a discipline and dedication thing. I really do not like to do my back either, but I do. One thing I really hate to do is abs. In fact I do not do abs, period. Have not done a situp in years. I am not a power lifter, however, I tend to workout with heavy weight (well for me it heavy - the 5-8 rep range for most exercises). In doing so you are always tighting the abs or supporting your upper torso with the core muscles. I am not into competitive BB. If I was then I would do abs. To me it is kind of like forearms, I figure with multi joint excersices they get worked to a degree. If I had the space in my garage for a squat rack I would do them. (work out alone and have no spotter). So for now it is lunges with DBs and leg-extensions. Oh yea and calf raises.

Now that I think about it, I do situp after each bench press exercise and skull crushers. Do those count as situps? Prolly not.

I get headaches just before a leg work out. That said, I never missed a leg day at the gym.
