I am on a 5 day rotation. As for a 48 hour rule, muscles aside you have tendons and joints to worry about as well. Going back to muscles themselves though, I dont like to buy into research too much when nobody successfully makes use of it.

Who do you see training like that, who has done much with their bodies. If you keep your volume low go for it, but if you are pushing for size I would recommend 4 or more days, I have done all kinds of different schemes even training the body 3x a week in both high and low volume. If you are natural, dont push your luck IMO.

Agreed. I even give it longer 6 to 7 days between training. When your natural and training hard you body needs time to recover.

There's nothing wrong with trying a routine like that for a particularly stubborn body part you are having trouble developing. It works for some people. However, for the most part, you need almost a week of rest if you do a high intensity workout on a certain muscle.

Kris, I think it depends on your volume. I did HST for awhile and really liked it, it is a more frequent routine but less volume (sets primarily). Reps also change etc etc Eventually though I think you find a balance between volume you like as well as days in between, and for me I like more volume so I am not going to be able to fit everything in a "2 day" rotation or etc, I have done 2/3/4/5/6/7 day and I seem to live comfortably around the 5-6 day area as far as volume preferences, and not going so long between workouts that I "feel" like I'm losing ground.

    HST - yay or nay?

Dig through all the posts at least on the first page if you are curious, the example routines (linked or otherwise) aren't all in the first post.
