Well i am not much or a runner, but if you are trying to increase your running time, you need to train. For example, if you run on the treadmill, try bumping it up a level for a couple of minutes. and increas that time every day.

I have also heard that wind sprints can help you out. I am guessing that it is because it builds up a greater capasity to breath and take in air. this would benefit you when you were pushing yourself to run faster on the treadmil or track.

This is how i might aproach it. I am not much of a runner, i do it soly for cardio and the fat burning benefits. I am sure some of the other members could help you out too.

Yeah, wind sprints help, you could start doing them for like 30 second burst then run at a normal pace for 1 minut then another burst for 30 seconds, slowly increase the time of the bursts.

What branch of service are you in?

I was in the Army for 2 years.

The way that I "got in shape" for the PT test, was running. I've always had a problem with distance running. So, for about 2 months before I had to take the PT test, I would run 3-4 days per week. And time myself in the 2 mile once per week.

I can see how the cleans would help his sprinting maybe. Makes you faster out of the box.
