You can use wide or narrow grip, supinated or pronated.
I use a supinated (curl grip) about 1-1.5" outside of the center of the bar (where there is no grip). I am 6'2", so width is going to be based on height somewhat.
When doing bent rows what grip width do you use?
I use a slightly wider than shoulder grip but recently been told my grip width was all wrong, the person couldn't answer why it was wrong when i quizzes him about it. Was he talking shit or is there some trurh in this?
I believe i have good strength gains with the grip i use.
Will start journal soon.
Gallery pics on the way.

That is funny. It was the wrong grip but he didn't know why. Did he know what part of the back you were tryin to work? O well just anouther know it all.
Any gip you use will work just in diff ways. I like underhand shoulder width. I need to thicken my lower lats, but I do overhand on occation.
when i do them i always change my grip
6" apart then 10 etc
and between suppinated and pronated...
you will emphasize different parts of your back that way
Anyone else have a problem going directly parallel to the ground while doing these, especially heavy ones? Im always at near a 30 degree angle.

I personaly don't see the need to go parallel. I go about 30 or 40 depending how my low back is feeling.
I used a little wider than shoulder width with a pronated grip. I have tried a little wider, and that seemed alright, but I didn't like any narrower. I just go with whatever feels most comfortable. Also, I stay bent at about 30-40 degress. Going completely parallel seems too risky and unnecessary. I feel the lift just the same when I allow my body some leeway.

I go parallel to the ground. In that position it is more difficult because you are at a greater mechanical disadvantage to apply force (due to gravitational pull) and the range of motion is greater.

Good post and very accurate. that is the good thing about bentover rows really...there is no single correct grip. I also do them shoulder width one day and a few inches wider a next. Same with underhand grip I alternate those in there as well from time to time.Originally posted by myCATpowerlifts
