Question Bulking & Strengthening.. Hand in Hand?

I play football and i want to get stronger but not necesarrily bigger... do they go hand in hand? can i get stronger muscles while still losing fat? Does getting stronger mean i have to eat like im trying to get bigger?

You do not have to get bigger if all you are looking for is strength. Stay at a maintanance diet and work with singles, doubles, triples (does not mean with 90+% of 1RM, you can do triples with 75% of 1rm and just move it as quickly as you can). You have to eat to get bigger, but not necessarily stronger.

If you want a little bit of both worlds you should try and periodize your training. Like say 5 weeks power training (low reps/high speed, more rest, oly lifts, compound movement), 3-4 weeks hypertrophy (train like a BB'er would, higher reps, less rest, more isolation exercises etc).

EDIT I probably used the word periodiz wrong in this regard but w/e.
