    powerlifting/bodybuilding hybrid training

i need some help setting up a training routine that will allow me to get thick, explosive, and super strong like a powerliter and big, symmetrical aesthetic build of a bodybuilder. (some people call this powerbuilding, but thats kind of cliche).

my current thoughts are training 5 days a week with 2 days of high intensity, low volume, PL type lifts, and then 3 days of moderate intensity/moderate volume hypertrophy type training.

any thoughts on how i should do this, and if its likely i'll overtrain or not? or should i just pick one endevor at a time and concentrate on that?

    thanks.

The plan sounds pretty good. I do something similar, as recommended by Lyle McDonald.

What I have found to work well is to combine the strength training and the bodybuilding on the same days. Start your exercises off with 5sets of 5reps for strength, and finish with 3 sets of 15 reps for hypertrophy. Off course you will have to eat plenty of food as well.

What's worked for me is doing my normal powerlifting lifts (bench, squat, deadlift) TWICE a week. Working Bench and squat on the same day and deadlift the next. I will do hardcore strength training on these three lifts (see powerlifting.com for some good workouts) and will then immediately hit the muscle groups of choice for that day. I go to the gym again on Saturday to work any muscles I might've missed. Any other excercies aside from my three basic lifts are done as bodybuilding excercises. Check out my journal for examples.
