I found a great pec exercise

I changed it up a little bit today for chest and found a great exercise to really explode your chest. Incline cable fly's followed by a superset of incline pushups. 10 reps for the fly's followed by 12 to 15 pushups on a flat bench with hands higher than your feet. I could feel my whole chest pumped after this exercise especially the upper part of the chest. Just thought I would share this great exercise. I replaced this routine with standard standing cable crossover's.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm its called a forum so that if you were stuck on developing your chest or hit a plateaue this would be a great exercise to break the barrier. My chest was sore as hell the next day and I could feel it in my upper chest the most. Thats why its a great exercise smart ass.

how is soreness not an indication of hypertrophy?

is hypertrophy not the process in which muscle tissue is torn and as a result grows back stronger and more dense? therefore if the muscle group you trained is sore would it not be an indication that you've successfully torn the muscle?

if neither are a sign of hypertrophy than what is?

of course it's not an indication of hypertrophy. someone can smack your bicep with a baseball bat and you'll get DOMS. you can do 100 rep bench and you'll get doms. what does that mean?

Just because pump and soreness arent nessicarly indicators of hypertrophy, doesnt mean that it didnt induce hypertrophy. He simply suggested that it gave him a great pump, had good mind/muscle connection and he felt sore the next day (which could mean growth, or could not, it isnt really known as of yet). It worked well for him, and sounds like a good shocker for chest.

Hypertrophy is the increase in the size of a cell (or tissue) without cell division (no cell number increase).

It can occur by itself but usually occurs in combination with an increase in cell number (hyperplasia).

The best example of pure hypertrophy is the increase in size of skeletal muscle that occurs with training in athletes (a physiological response to increased muscle activity) or in the cardiac muscle of the left ventricle (as a response to outflow obstruction caused by, for example, systemic hypertension).

A combination of hypertrophy (cell size) and hyperplasia (cell number) can occur in the smooth muscle of the uterus during pregnancy as a physiological consequence of hormonal action.

Now the question is -- How do you know if you're increaasing the size of a cell without cell division?

i feel the being sore is a key indicator that you've surprised your muscles... meaning, they will most likely be stimulated to grow... the key is getting enough recovery time between workouts...
