How to find a good trainer?

Hey u all. i like to work out on my own mostly or with one partner....but i want to learn the exact and best way to do the exercises (the form, the ROM, etc) for a few weeks in the summer id love to get a good trainer (someone experienced...for example a guy that used to train a sports team etc) i dont trust the guys that work at goodbodies, 24 hour fitness etc. I want a real guy. Can anyone help me out? Does anyone have ideas on how or where i can search? i live in dallas if that helps

That's a good question. Are there any "fitness studios" in the area? Those are small gyms that you only train at if you're paying a trainer there to train you. That is what gopro used to run, he no longer does, he now works for VPX. I would think something like that would be your best bet at getting a qualified trainer.

As far as the goons at places like 24-Hour Fitness, the majority are going to be worthless. I am sure there are a few good ones, but it would be difficult to find one unless you were very knowledgable yourself (in which you would not need a trainer).

If I could interview each trainer it would take me less than 5 minutes each to find out if they're worthy or not.

it will be pricey to get a good one that understands where you are comming from as a body builder. unless you get lucky, most of the ones I find teach that you have to "tone" an area with high reps, eat using the food pyramid blah blah blah.

You can go to the acefitness.org website to find a cpt in your area, they will give you a list of trainers with their contact info. Good Luck

I would go around and talk to the trainers at your gym. That is what I did.

I would also recommend talking to the trainers at the gym, they may know more than you think they do, so it may be worth a shot.
