Question cut or bulk ? your opinion needed

Ok here's the skinny, no pun intended , ok it was a pun. But anyway. When i started working out in Nov. 2002 I was and still am on a fat loss mission. I have lost 40 lbs of fat so far . My goal : on my 50th B-day to be able to lift my shirt and reveal an etched set of abs.

I turn 50 in 53 weeks ( I'm anal aren't I . LOL ) I am soooo close to where I want to be now. Every week I notice a new vein showing up somewhere that I never noticed before and I can see my abs but they are not as etched as I want them to be.

If you were in my shoes ( size 12 W ) what would you do ? Continue cutting or do a "clean" bulk for 6 to 12 weeks just for a change of pace and then use the remaining time to etch the abs for the big 50 ?

Thr pics in my gallery won't be updated until next week sometime but they should give you an idea of where I am at.

    Thanks for the opinions !

If your not too overweight right now i would go with a short clean bulk. It depends on whether you think you can lose the extra weight from the bulk plus the weight that already need to lose.

    and happy birthday next week.

You're lookin pretty good right now. If i were you, i'd cut, just to reach my goal. You've got plenty of time to add mass later. Bench 405 by your 60th?

I say bulk, since youre already lean, and it wont take you anywhere near 53 weeks to get where you wanna be, so why not add some more muscle mass before you start chiseling away.

I have to admit i am leaning towards a bulk . If I continue to cut and get to where i want to be in the next 12 weeks i would have to maintain that for another 40 weeks and that would be killer i think. what do you think ?

Oooh... i didnt know you'd want to maintain it until you turn 50. I thought you just wanted to get there by the time you turn 50.

If you want to be cut right when you turn 50, then yeah, there's plenty of time to bulk now.

lol! am i the only one who thought this was funny?
    oh well

    but i would clean bulk
depending on how lean you are now you could lose a little more fat while increasing muscle so

    thats my 2 cents

    LOL very funny!

I would agree w/ a clean bulk if you have relatively low bf% but if you are at a higher % I would say cut up a little then carry over with a very clean bulk.

I'd say I am definetly 10 % or less. The online formulas tell me anywhere from 5.5% to 9.1 %
So I think I will start working up a meal plan for a bulk. First time for me , should be an experience worthy of a new journal.

    Thanks for all the input.
