I have been working out for the last couple years in my home using dumbells only. I have a great flat/incline/decline bench as shown here.
http://www.nlfit.com/frameBenches.htm As I have started using heavier and heavier dumbells, I have found that it is very hard to get them into the correct postion without hurting my shoulders. I can press the weight with no problems, but getting the dumbell off my chest is starting to risk injury. For this reason I have thought about buying a bar to add to my equipment. If I am buying a bar, I will need some sort of "spotting" equipment to keep me from crushing myself under it. The obvious option would be to buy a bench with the equipment built onto it. I would really prefer to keep my bench as it is and not have a big cumbersome bench that has the spotters bolted to the frame. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a spotting attachment separately? So far I have been looking at smith machines, and squat racks/powerracks but both options are very large (I don't have much room) and seem pretty costly. I'm not even sure how well they would work. Any info would be appreciated. PS - the best option that I have seen so far is this rack here. Still pretty large though. It seems like a lot of expense just to be able to bench a bar. http://www.bodysolid.com/BSStrength/...70/WPR370.html |

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
I am a Canadian and was able to find the same rack you suggested at a supplier in Ontario for almost the same cost. http://www.fitnesssource.ca/product_...oducts_id=1506 My only question is, what sort of quality is it? The one year warranty has me wondering. It looks like a pretty simple design, basic rectangle, so I'd imagine that little could go wrong. Have you used this companies products before? Once again, thanks a lot. |

it looks sturdy enough. it says it's made with heavy gauge steel. don't be put off by the warranty, it's probably on there so it would have the opposite effect on people that you felt which is to make them feel more secure in buying their product.
