I don't know how anyone can get results from doing 1000 reps. They are obviously under the ASSumption, that spot reduction is possible. The abs are a muscle like any other and that many reps is what I would call gross overtraining. The only time I did anywhere near that amount of reps was when I had a drill sergeant subjecting me to his brand of punishment which he labeled as "performing a circus".This was hundreds of reps of push ups,sit ups and flutter kicks and I doubt they did much for my abs.

i remember when i first started doing ab work,i didnt know anything about training and i was doing like 400 a day. had i not learned better it would have probably gotten up to a 1000 hehe
thinking back it was probably just a waste of time.. i did them extremely fast so it was all probably done through momentum. i didnt use much control or concentrate on my abs at all. but i could brag to people that i could do 400 situps... spread over 4 sets of course. now i do 3-4 sets of 20, slow and controled twice a week and i get a FAR better workout. i use reverse crunches, leg raises, side bends, etc. as well.

just do the movements slow and controlled, hold the contracted position for a couple seconds and hold it tight, then back down slowly always concentrating on the abs doing the work. it amazed me how few i actually had to do to get a good workout when done properly.

I agree.Slow and controlled with a pause in the contracted position is definetly more beneficial than hundreds of those quick bouncing reps.

I don't see the point of it.

Post Plz explain this Ab theory

I read, and heard ppl actually doing 1000 Crunches everyday, and getting results! However, isn't Abs a part of our muscle and alot of rest is needed for it to grow too? In that case, how did ppl acheieve results by doing 1000 Crunches everyday w/o resting? Is it because they are on steroids?

I don't have a great body, but as long as I work hard like now, I'm gonna reach there.
