Make sure you go through the complete range of motion when your doing your seated calv raises or whatever exercise and make sure to stretch them between every set. Alternating standing and seated raises seems to work pretty well for me, but i'm in the same boat as you..trying to get those calves to pop out more! Good Luck

....and i think ya have to get used to that burning pain during a good set - and keep going. other bodyparts don't hurt in the same way calves do when you're training them hard. (at least i find that to be true)

Try doing them completely seperate. Go into the gym, maybe during off time, and just do 10 sets of calvs. Do 5 standing raisies, gradually increasing weight until you can do no more than 6.

Same with seated, 5 sets until you can do no more than 6 on the final set.

    Here are a few things:

    1) always use a full range of motion
    2) perform reps slowly accentuating the stretch at the bottom and holding the maximum contraction at the top of the motion
    3) Train them FIRST and TWICE a week - IMO anymore is overtraining
    4) Experiment with different rep schemes...6-8, 8-12, 12-15, 20....some respond to lower reps while others respond to higher reps. Either way you want to develop strength and hypertrophy so I recommend using low and high reps.
    5) Make sure you train the SOLEOUS and GASTROCNEMIUM - this means always doing a standing exercise and a seated exercise.
    6) Train the front of the lower leg (ANTERIOR TIBIALIS) - do this by placing your heel on the edge of a bench and doing toe raises....gives the lower leg a fuller look

GOOD LUCK...most of all train them hard and learn to continue through the burn!
