Has anybody heard about Static Contraction workouts? This is the workout where you just do one "rep" at full contraction and hold for 10 - 20 counts. For example, for the chest, you'd just push the bar off the rack and hold it at 1 to 2 inches from full contraction for 10 - 20 counts. You don't even bring to your chest (negative) first, just push up from the rack. That's it, you're done with chest workout.

A friend of mine told me about this over the weekend. I'm gonna go get the book to see what it's all about. It's supposed to be great for building strength. Was just wondering if anybody's heard about it?

There are 3 forms of contractions..concentric, eccentric, and static. Just working hard in one of them will not lead to optimal strength and size gains. This workout will make a great change of pace on ocassion, but I would not use it very often. This form of training can be used at times to over come a sticking point in a particular lift, however.

Thanks gopro. Thought I'd give a try for a change of pace, just didn't want to hurt myself somehow.
