There are too many variables to consider when it comes to how fast you can get cut. What some do in a few weeks takes others a few months.
Your diet should be your main focus when cutting. Followed by cardio. The amont of cardio you do is contingetn upon what type you do. Go to www.johnstonefitness.com and take a look at this guys food/excercise log and the pictures that go with it. This should help develop a decent baseline.

I have heard people quote anywhere from 1-2 pounds per week is appropriate for cutting with minimal loss of muscle mass.

I lost 20 lbs in 12 weeks, and I think I cut too fast. I'm very weak. Look pretty damn good though after 7 years...vascular and knotty, but I can't keep this up...I'm beat. Good luck.

Most decent gyms can do it for you, they estimate it by *clamping* you at various places on your body and then measure the folds of skin and fat :P
