I just wanted if some of you are really consistent with working out, or are still caught in the on and off cycle...

Yes, I am consistently working out, and have been since I was 12. Never did the on and off stuff that some people tend to fall into.

My on and off comes and goes in very long term cycles. FOr example i would hit it hard for a year or so (training and diet), then something might happen in my life where i don't lift for a few months.

I have been 100% consistent and deicated for the last 3 years, I do take breaks every 3 months or so, usually one week off.

I did sustain a nerve injury August 2003 that set me back. I had to take 3 full weeks off from taining and it took about 6 months to regain all lost size & strength.

I've been consistently active between weights, biking, hockey, and skiing for about seven years now. Weights are just part of my active lifestyle. I have not taken off more than a week since I graduated college.

I've been on the shelf for a few days though because of a biking injury I just suffered (lower back, ribs, shoulder, knee, hip). I am hoping to get back at it this weekend.

I first started lifting in high school when I took it as class. After the year ended, I continued exercising throughout the summer, but stopped about a month or two into the year. I was very consistent during that time.

I started up again approximately a year ago; this time I purchased home lifting equipment. I took 7 weeks off from lifting while I was on vacation, but I continued to exercise consistently with what I had (Some small dumbells and bodyweight exercises). Thankfully I lost no strength. The only time I have taken off since then is either as a rest week, which I now do every 12 weeks, or due to sickness.

I started playing sports in 4th grade and there was always some element of conditioning involved, even as a child. I cant remember a time when I didnt work out, except when injuries prevented me. I used to run a lot, always lifted since 14yo,biked,boxed,football,baseball,basketball...ec t

Starting in my 30's I started taking "rest cycles" seriously. One or two days a wekk I do nothing but stretch and maybe throw the baseball with my kid. Three of four times a year I take a week off. I wish I had done this when I was younger but I didnt have the wisdom. Like most folks in their teens and 20's, especailly lifters, I thought my body was invincible. I was wrong. Ive had 15 operations in my 46 years, have broken uncountable bones, and with each injury weights have been the fundemental tool toward recovery.

I plan on working iut till I croak. Hopefully they will bury me with my weights so's I can still lift in the hereafter.

    Take care..............Rich

I have been consistent for about 8 months now(diet only consistent for 4). But I have been lifting off and on since I was 18, now 21.

its nice to hear those experiences.... I have been training for a year now, hampered my success by not prioritizing my diet and rest in the first few months. After learning the fundamentals of bb through the first few months I slowly incorporated them and continue to make gains.... Rest every after 12 weeks... I
