Angry Hey, how many calories are burned in a 30min run?

I don't have the equipment, I don't have money for the equipment, nor do I care for the equipment. But the cycling machines at our school records 300 or so calories burned for a 15min session. So I'm guessing, a 30-45min run equates to about 1000 calories? Does that sound right?

you gotta be haulin to burn 1000 cals in 30 minutes, i think something around 10 cals per minute is a rough estimate, but it depends on speed and how much you weigh and stuff like that

Caloric expenditure during running is dependent on many factors including form, stride length, intensity, speed, and incline. I am a skeptic when it comes to the caloric burn estimates put out by treadmills (or any other cardio equip. for that matter.) I think they are way too high. A general rule to go by to calculate calories burned per mile running is the following:

    Females: 1 Mile = Weight * .73
    Males: 1 Mile = Weight *.865

This is a bit conservative when compared to the 100 cal/mile estimate most use, but remember, these are only estimates. Without taking BF % etc. into account, it's hard to be dead on w/ the numbers.

There ya go. Hope it helps.

Actually, for males you have to weigh 115.61 pounds for that 100 cal/mile guess the cardio machines use to be equivalent to the scale you have presented. It seems to me like cardio machines are more conservative when it comes to men.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
