Even if it is not necessary to take a week off, if you take it, you will not loose anything. It will do you good.![]()
IMO when you go back to the bodybuilding life you should bulk, try 3500-4000 cal.
Hi, I've been training for about 6-7 weeks now on my current split (M/W/F), occasionally I would throw in an extra rest day here and there on top of that. However I'm really busy at university all day, and it's a pretty stressful time right now, so I'm thinking my recovery may not be all that.
I've noticed a weakness/occasional very mild pain in my right shoulder, and some mild backache, plus I'm very tired physically, at pretty much any time I could lie down and sleep without a problem I reckon.
The thing is, I eat 2800-3200 healthy calories a day (40/40/20) at 6'2" and 165lbs/75kg and get 6-8 hours sleep most nights, so I'm just debating whether I should just pull myself together and make it to my intended 8 weeks for this split, or whether I should really take the week off now... or some variation of that.
I'd appreciate some opinions from people more experienced than I (already got overtrained once, and I think I recognise some of the symptoms cropping up again, like irritability).
Thank you
Alex

I lost 3 lbs last week and I only too 3 out of the five days off.

Did you stop eating ?
Well, I actually was already trying to bulk on 3200 cals. I've gradually been up'ing the cals over the last couple of months starting at around 2400. I think I was just starting to put on weight, as I went from 74 to 75kg over what I think was about 2-3 weeks.
Anyway, if I do take a week off, how does this affect my calorie intake and supplementation with whey, ZMA and tribulus?
Presumably I slowly ramp my calories down to around 2500 over a few days, gradually stop taking zma, and probably keep up with the trib?
I would not stop the supplements, well whey is gotta go for that week off.
Donīt worry too much about it. The worst thing that can happen is that you can gain a little fat but that goes away quickly. I never experienced lost of strength because just one week.
I've experienced loss of strength over the last 2 weeks anyway on some exercises.
I should say I eat 3200-3500 cals on a workout day btw, 2800-2900 rest days.
so no whey, but keep up the zma and trib?
Presumably nightime (and daytime) casein is still a good idea
what about whey in water first thing in the morning though? Probably still a good idea right ?
I have no experience with trib ..it is just a herb to promote testosterone rise, isnīt it ? I donīt like herbs.
ZMA is just micronutrients, take it.
Whey in the morning ? Do you just go to work ? Whey is fast absorbing, IMO you donīt need it first thing in the morning.
Casein is a good idea.![]()
Do you take multi-vitamin/mineral and omega-3 too? You should. Watch to not exceed the in some vitamins though.
that's why I take whey first thing, to get protein absorbed fast, then I have breakfast of slow burning carbs and protein.
yes I take both, which vitamins should I watch not to exceed
The thing is.. when you drink your whey with something else it is not fast absorbing anymore. I would save that whey just for post-workout. I would take the casein first thing in the morning.
I don't drink it with anything else
whey + water
30mins
breakfast
I canīt tell if you are right or not. Maybe I am wrong.
I donīt think whey is necessary first thing in the morning..
Supplements for me is so expensive that is why I drink it just when it is very necessary.![]()
