Please help! About gaining muscle/losing fat

I'm a 17 yr old girl, and I want to be a pro wrestler. I graduate in June, and I'm going to a wrestling school to train as soon as I'm done. I'm 5'5, and I was 140 pounds, but I gained 10 pounds in the last month from exercising. This is what I usually do:

Monday- Cardio (run 1 mile, and a cardio kick tape)
    Tuesday- Weights
    Wednesay- Cardio
    Thursday- Weights
    Friday- Cardio
    Saturday- Cardio
    Sunday- Rest

I've noticed a big change in my arms and legs. I use to be kind of..I guess flubby would be the word, and my legs have improved a lot. Theres way more muscle. But the thing is, my mom thinks my legs are FAT! She wants me to stop trying to get muscle, and work on slimming them down, and then working to get muscle. She says all the women wrestlers have tiny legs, and so should I. I don't want to be a wussy woman wrestler, I want to fight like Chyna. And I want to be big, so should I stick with my workout, or slim down and then bulk up? Thanks!

Using some common sense from what women wrestling I have seen......having muscular legs is a good thing to have. You are using the whole body not just the upper. You need to have good leg strength to lift someone up and over.

Chyna was a bodybuilder before getting into wrestling. Dont tell me they have tiny legs. My role models are the competitors in the Strong Woman contests...having legs is a plus when lifting, pushing or hauling all that stuff they do.

So dont tell me that women wrestlers have to abide by a different "look" than the guys while "out there". Acting and skits aside......wrestling is hard work to keep from hurting each other even worse. You have to have whole body strength/endurance to pull it off well.

So if Chyna is your role model......good.

I used to wrestle; the key seems to be super lean muscle. I think you might want to focus on strength training to reduce the amount of muscle mass you gain while maximizing strength increase. This way you can wrestle in the lower weight classes while having the strength of someone in a higher weight class.

Do a search for the westside routine. That is currently the de facto strength training routine, at least in the opinions of many on these forums.

Yeah Chyna is like my idol. I love her! She has the best body I've seen from a woman in the WWE, and shes exactly what I want to be like. My mom thinks that all the girls were there for TnA, and i will be considered a 'freak' if im like Chyna, because she thinks Chyna was a circus freak! But I want to actually wrestle you know?

My mom thinks that about me as well. She doesn't want me to be a bodybuilder, at all! She won't even let me bring protein shakes in the house. Sometimes, it's not always about what THEY want...

girls, I started off with the same issues with my parents when I was younger as well. I started lifting when I was 15 yrs old, at a young age as well. It took a while to bring myparents around to acceptance with my goals and hobbies, but now they are more supportive than I ever imagined. You need to talk to your parents, not argue, about nutrition/training/athletes, etc. It takes time but dont give up hope with them.

    Angry ..

well i have tried talking with my parents about it, and they just freak out saying im unrealistic and i have weird dreams. so i dont say anything to them really. my mom said she'd rather see me being a body builder because its more realistic than being a wrestler. wrestling is my life, and i am going to stop at nothing to try to become one. i told them im going to a wrestling school next year, and they just laugh at me and tell me not to break my neck. its soo annoying

Go for it berggy! You can do whatever you put your mind to. One of my motivations for achieving certain things in life other than personal fulfillment is to prove the nay-sayers wrong. When you're rubbing elbows with The Rock, Triple H, Trish, etc... don't forget all of us!
