I am thinking that I might be overtraining, but don't know what I can do about it at the moment. My goal is to gain weight, but I have been dealing with sciatica for nearly three months now. It helps the pain a little if I do a little light cardio every day before work. So far, I'm doing about half an hour cardio per day 5-6 times a week, and sometimes some streches when I can handle it. But is this going to interfere with my goal of gaining weight? Of course I do not lift weights as often as I'm doing the cardio, and I'm not training my legs (other than calves) at the moment. Any thoughts appreciated... Cheers, Art. |

As long as you eat more food you should be fine, but you're going to have to eat A LOT more food. I think you would be better off doing HIIT cardio. You are less likely to burn muscle for energy if you are only doing cardio for 15-20 minutes.

Have a break for a day or two, your muscles need time to repair themselves (growing), and you definately dont have to feel guilty about it.
For legs, try indoor rowing for 500m, if you're under 1min 40sec, you're doing pretty good. Good to see some people from aust. |

Thanx for the tips, I'm not sure that my lower back is the source of the problem.
I have visited a chiropractor once and it made no difference at all. Would I feel it if it were trouble with my lower back? I mean I have had my share of trouble there, but I don't feel any pain there at the moment... Art. |

![]() BTW, I had a look at your pics & you're huge! Congrats on your good work. I'm thinking you have better genetic potential than me though. I've booked in to the chiropractor for later today, but first, I will get to the gym for some light cardio, and I'll see how it feels to squat, and work my legs a little. After the chiro visit, you're not supposed to work your body for at least 24 hrs. Cheers, Art. |
