Do you train if your a little sore?

Is it a bad idea to hit the weights when your still a little stiff/sore? The big one for me is that my shoulders get a little sore from my chest workout.....along comes shoulder day and I'm still hurting a bit...anybody else deal with this....I usually just work thought the pain....

I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

A little stiffness isn`t bad but if you are really sore I would change my split so you have time to recoup or check my volume/nutrition/sleep!

    35OZ,

I use to experience the same soreness, but then I put chest and shoulders on opposite ends of the week (Monday-shoulders, Thurs-chest) and I couldn't fee better on chest day. Plus, you can flip those days around to freshen up the workout.

I try not to because it hurts my lift poundages, but it may be a clue that you are doing to much or having the days to close together. It is not uncommon to see chest/delts/triceps in the same day, although I haven't done that in a long time.

I wait until a day after a muscle group is full recooped until I work it again. And Mudge, a routine ( chest/delts/triceps ) like that would whoop on someone. That'd be tough on ya.

I am usually willing to lift if I am a little sore. If I start and I just feel week, then I might quit and put it off. However, sometimes I just feel sore but I can maintain the same weights or improve. Play it by ear.

    My routine is...
    mon: chest
    tue: back
    wed: shoulders/traps
    thurs:Bi's/Tri's
    fri: legs/calves

It works out pretty well....I thought that it may be from me leaning out....with reduced diet and running twice a week putting extra strain on the bod......thanks for the replies!

That's my routine, works great for me. that way your tri's and delts are completely recivered by the time you hiy yhem again, rather than hitting chest one day and tris or shoulders the next. It makes alot of sense to me, also by the time you hit your shoulders they are already warmed up.

I work Chest/Biceps on Monday, and Shoulders on Thursday...usually, my front delts have a little bit of soreness in them if I used the incline barbell press. Oddly, if I used dumbells for my inclines, I don't get the soreness in my front delts. I usually hit them again with front presses, but then focus on the side delts for the rest of the workout. No front raises, or upright rows when my front delts are sore.
