Intelligent opinions and theroies on the effectivness of H.I.T.

I have spent a good part of the past year - year and a half of my life experimenting with various exercise programs. I do as much research as any person who has an internet connection and a local library can accomplish.

Roughly in the summer of last year, my brother and I began this expedition into the science and philosophy of bodybuilding. We both were tired of the garbage and bile that the magazines put out and were on a quest to change ourselves once and for all.

I have accomplished much. I have leaned down, gained good amounts of muscle and look better than I have during any period of my life. (Including my teen years! ) My brother however, has absolutely exploded as far as size and strength, and he sticks to one simple routine, year round with what are IMO phenomenal results.

My brother used to be fat. He was picked on up until about his junior year in highschool for his obesity ( He was also a Diabetic at about the age of 9, which we think had a lot to do with it, seeing he hadnt really gotten the hang of handling his blood sugar and such.) Plus the fact we moved to Southern California from South Carolina, and the change was a rough one for him.

He did high volume workouts, and made little to no progress for nearly a year, maybe more. His savior turned out to be finding a H.I.T. book in the local library.

At first he said he scoffed at the techiniques and lack of volume, but he said he had nothing to lose, so he went for it. My brother is now 6'1 and about 235, LEGAL. (Which means not NATURAL, it just means legal pro-steroids). He uses HIT year round, and looking at his workout log, he has really yet to increase strength or reps in any workout in over a years time.

He deadlifts (Max) 550
Best Bench is 350
Squat is close to 490

He is only 20 years old, working out on HIT for just over a year in June. (I believe he started in March of 2002). He has great size, and great power.

I on the other hand, am 6'3 and weigh about 215. I am lean and pretty muscular, but not as large as him, and no where really even near as strong.
I do have a much more muscular appearance, because I am naturally leaner than he is, but his results just cant be questioned by many people who tell him that he is working out the "wrong way".

I know HIT has a strange following of people sometimes, and most people either swear by it, or hate it. I am not one to tell anyone what is the best way to workout for them, because we are all different. But its just hard for me to argue with his results. I told him he may improve his physique by changing his workout a bit, but in all honesty, why would he? I know that HIT doenst really conform to all this new "scientific data" and many of the opinions and theories of people on this board and other boards, but if it works so damn well for him, why would it not do wonders for someone else.

I know people are different, but muscle is muscle and the basics of muscle physiology should be at least CLOSE to the same for all people, am I wrong.

I would like to know what your opinions are, why it works for some, maybe not as well for others. I will be using HIT for a 10 week cycle starting Monday, just because I cannot argue with his results anymore. All the theories and data in the world, dont always equal results, and for him, HIT works absolutely wonderful.

All opinions and such, welcome, I really want to know what people believe.
