    Thumbs down Working out...

I haven't worked out in forever. I just can't seem to get into it. I am losing and have lost at least like 10 lbs. in a month or so... I am just not into it anymore and that kinda scares me. Will I ever get into working out again????? I think it's b/c I am tired a lot (but exercising should boost my energy) and that I am getting all selfconscious again. I look great in regular clothes but I hate gym clothes. And there is always some lil hoe running around in her skimpy clothes with a nice body and all the guys are looking at her...Oh oh, my self esteem is going downhill again. We have a treadmill at home, but when I am at home I want to catch up on sleep. I could go on and on about this but I will be quiet now...

Hey Suzi its good to air how you feel!

I can relate a bit too i went through a stage a while back where i just couldnt motivate to train and the thought of going to the gym sent me into a bit of a panic! I knew i didnt like how i felt but just couldnt give myself the motivation to get up and do anything! And when i finally went to the gym after a two week break i couldnt lift as much and this depressed me too! LOL a vicious circle!

Your problem sounds more like a mild depression where you cant push yourself to do anything and mentaly cant take too much on board! this is really common but i wouldnt beat yourself up about it! Dont go back to the gym until you feel totally ready! We al need a break and if you go back too soon it could put you off for longer!

Going on the tread mill is a good idea! Remember you are in a much better fat burning state first thing in the morning before breakfast so do 30 - 45mins when you wake up you will find that you will be able to lose weight a lot better!

Exercise wont boost your energy only food can help do that and getting fitter again gradually! Its so common to not train for a while lose strength etc! The first thing you may want to do is start on your diet first if you feel like you are contributing in some way it may get you more focused! My philosophy is when i thought will i ever get through this plateau was of course i will! After all Suzi you are on this board you are seeking help that alone tells you you dont want to give up!

So keep smiling girl chin up! I promise you we all go through this stage once in a while and when you do get back to that gym you will feel better then ever so dont see this as negative see it as a postitive you are resting and will come back more focused then ever but just go at your own speed and we are all here if you need any support or encouragement!

Ps oh and another thing dont look at the other girls in the gym you are just self conscience! Anyway IMO if you cover yourself up then the girls dont know what you have under-neath remember you are training for you and no-one else!

Thanks Ms Figure!!! Are you trainging to be a fitness model? Just asking cause I was doing that, and then I gave up after 3 weeks...I was doing good too. I know what you mean about the loss of strength, I did go in one night last week and I could barely do anything it was terrible!!!!!

I can't help but look at those girls they are skinnier than me!!!! I don't know it's just so silly. I started working out for honey, he is a bodybuilder... I was pregnant when I started. I was into it then after the baby I was trying but it is hard with a newborn. Now she is 11 months old, I don't have any excuse not to. EXCEPT, I have no time in the morning, none!!!!! And I am tired, she wears me out and my honey is like a 2nd baby. It's just hard being a young mother... you never realize the responsibility til it's too late!! Ha! Thanks though!

I would guess that one of the reasons for being tired and lacking motivation is the anti-depressant medication you said you were taking.

Thats exactly what i was going to ask. I would think it would do the opposite, but i guess it isnt. Talk to your doc about it.

I remember you saying you were taking two types of medication. I doubt they know how the two react to each other. And i also remember you saying you were taking a fat burner. I would be willing to bet that may have something to do with it. There is a very good chance that medication was tested for use with a fat burner (T2, hydroxy cut, xenadrene, Phen free to name a few.)

I know in cases where a person who takes ridalin and does not need it, they supposidly feel all hyper vs the person needing it. They are mellowed out to a degree. The same might be happening to you with the fat burners and medication.

I'm not a doctor, but this is just my two cents.

    Hey SusiQ

    I do figure/fitness comps!

I didnt realise you were on anti-depressants! I agree with that they can tire you out but it does depend on the anti-depressant! I have friends who are on Prozac for example and are fine!

I would expect that your 11mth old doesnt help the energy levels!

You havnt mentioned your diet i would advice a good balance of complex carbs brown rice, pasta etc! Dont touch caffine if you can and make sure you are taking multi-vits because anti-depressnats can play havoc with the immune system!

Id really like to help get you motivated again! If there is anything i can do to get you back in the gym let me know! An online friend of mine set me goals when i was de-motivated and that helped!

Susie...my advice to you is to simply commit yourself to a small, managable amount of training to get yourself going. Sometimes people tend to get all excited about training and begin to undertake a routine with far to much volume, intensity, and days. They quickly burnout, and either never return to training or stop for a long period.

Just pick say 3 non-consecutive days during the week to at least walk on the treadmill. Start for 15-20 minutes the first week. Add 5 minutes per week until you hit 30-35 minutes per session. Than perhaps add one day of weight training...maybe a quick, full body circuit that takes 15 minutes to complete. Over time, add more training when you are MENTALLY and EMOTIONALLY ready.

Doing it this way will gradually get you back in the groove of exercise, and along with it will come your passion for training again and boatloads of self esteem and self worth. I wish you so much luck!

I would have to agree with gopro... when I first started working out years ago I would start with a full body routine that took 1 hour 3 days a week... then that increased and increased until about 3-4 months into it I was working out for 2-3hours 3-4 times per week.. then I'd just stop.. it became unmanageble.. then after about 2-3 months I'd start up again.. then fall back into this cycle... finally (what i do now) is 3 days a week split routine that takes 40-50 minutes each time.. and the objective is not to increase the time but the weight/intensity.

See if you go into it thinking this will only take 20-30 minutes its a lot easier to get started then looking at 1-1.5 hours... just hink how good you'll feel about yourself when you're done.... I mean 20 minutes is better then 0...
