I know tons of people who are skinny but not lean, they are surely not the same thing...

You probably have a small frame, but a decent amount of fat. As well, your abdominal muscles might not be very large. Do you work them out a lot? Do you do any resistance exercises with them? Also, some people's abdominal muscles don't show very well even at low body fat.

Measure your bodyfat, probably you are not as "lean" as you think.

Skinny means you have a small frame and waist. Lean means you have low bodyfat. You can have up to 15% bodyfat or so and still be pretty skinny. However, some people need to be below 10% bodyfat before their abs become visible. Get your bodyfat tested; it is the only way to know for sure.

where do you work-out?

most gyms will do it, and most personal trainers do it as well, otherwise you could look into buying some bf calipers.

You are missing the point, you can be fat and lightweight. Bodyweight and fat do not have a direct correlation, you can be heavy and ripped or light and fat etc

Are you ripped everywhere else? Very lean people will sometimes even show striations here or there without any training at all.

I was trying to make a point A lot of people think that if they are lightweight that they are "skinny" when they might have a high bodyfat percentage, so we were just checking to make sure we were all on the same page.

You can't train abs every day...you'll fatigue the muscle, and then plateau. Same thing can be said about yoru pushups. You're doing the same # of reps/sets every night...you think you're going to make gains like that? You have to vary it, and only train each muscle 2-3 times per week to give it a chance to rest. Then, you have to work on your diet to get more cals in..

I don't know about that. Endurance exercises are different than strength/bodybuilding exercises. For example, wrestlers and martial artists train daily. When I was on the wrestling team in high school we trained 6 days a week, but only did weight training 2-3 days per week.

But did that do anything? I include abs as part of the 2-3 days per week training
