    Question Results

Well, I see how results vary per person but how do these sound? I was around 115 lbs at the begining of this year. I started off doing push ups/sit ups, and running. Once I purchased some weight lifting equipment I got hooked on it. In November my max bench was like 130. Right now, as of today, I weigh in about 135-140 lbs at 5'4. I'd say my body fat is low, I can see all my abs and even veins in the bottom of them. My 1RM is prolly around 210-215 right now, I haven't checked. Last training day I did 4x4 of 195 and it wasn't a struggle. Now what I want to know is, should I have progressed faster? Or is this an ok rate? I'll try to get pictures up, all I have in the gallery are my old ones from around Oct.

Sounds like plenty of increase to me. That's about as good as you're going to get. Your gains are going to get a lot slower, believe me. Beginner gains are great, but they don't last for longer than 6-12 months. At least they didn't for me.

I was wondering if this is a good ability to do this much at the age of 15. Oh and i do football and track. I throw Discus and shot in track and in football i am a fullback and linebacker. I would like to know some good tips to raise me bench and all of that if u can help me i would appreciate u emailing me at jl.dove@insightbb.com and if u think that this is good to be this strong at 15 please email me also . That's awesome! subliminal, your weight is 135-140 and your 1rep bench max is 200??
Damn, I wish mine was that good!
Time to get back to work! I've been slacking!

How normal is this? I mean to bench almost twice your weight? How many of you can do it? Maybe a stupid question..

Those are awesome results, Subliminal. I'm an inch taller than you and weigh about the same as you yet I cannot bench as much as you can.

    Well

Yes, I agree they aren't amazing results. And I wasn't posting for my ego. I just wanted to see if I was progressing too slow. Im 17 years old, and my short arms add in to my bench? I suppose. Pfunk helped me alot, my bench liked rocketed up

Thanks for the positive comments, and no thanks to that bitter guy.....

1.5x my bodyweight for bench is about where I'm stuck, a double press would be tough unless you are short or wickedly gifted/juiced up. For me after some weight loss I would have to press 520 to hit double, not likely anytime soon.

    Ohhh

Sorry about the bitter remark then. But anyways, even with these lifts I feel really weak. This kid in my school was benching 260 for his 1rm and does like 200 lbs for reps . He is also in my weight class. I found out he has been lifting for a couple years now but on and off, but at one point was using something. Im still sort of small, I dont mind though, it catches people off guard . I've been thinking about going westside to gain more strength, maybe i'll impliment it before the summer is over.

hey, when i started going to the gym, i could barely put up 95 pounds. dont worry about it man. im no longer the smallest or weakest guy there. it takes time. forget about what others can do and focus on your own gains.

On top of that, I also did chin ups today, then afterwards biceps..was that a bad move? It felt like the chin ups drained my biceps/brachialis? maybe I had bad form?

If you can do 230 for 4 you can definitely put up 250.

nope, chinups are biceps workers, too. that's why i do back 2 days before biceps. gives them time to rest, my biceps get a good workout on back day. also why i go

    chest
    back
    tris
    bis
    shoulders

such that one body part isnt being worked twice in a row.

Sublim....these numbers are awsome for your age, size and weight. You have totally shattered your old bench press personal best from where we started form. Way to go. I can't believe you are already benching this heavy!!

Yeah P-Funk, im still totally amazed I can bench this much. I've just been taking my time going up and noticed how much I've been benching lately. All my other numbers went up also. Like I said I never really worked my legs because I was a moron.......a complete moron. But my squat went up just as good as my bench. Im trying to get some pics up... my old pics make me look like a twig, but of course I was back then.....haha

    What Happened No!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hypothesis:
Ok well I think it started this morning. I didn't have time to eat anything since I woke up late and had to head out almost right the second I woke up. So I ate nothing from 6 a.m till like 11ish. When I got home I ate all I had left...cottage cheese..not alot only like 2 table spoons left. (yeh I forgot to go shopping this week) I got a new digital camera so I was posing to take pics, Im not sure what flexing does but I decided to add it in. Well anyways I went to lift at around 4:00 pm. Now this is where I got depressed......well angry. I went straight to 250 bench press, I held it for a second at the top and then brought it down. Once it touched my chest I only managed to push it up about 1 or 2 inches off my chest with my own power and I managed to get one rep with my two spotters slightly helping. I was mad, and to make it worse my friend ryan ( spotter #2 ) was like , " Yeah, I think we got that up instead of you". So I was kinda mad. I tried 250 again, failed once more, but this time I held it at the two inches above my chest for like 5 seconds just trying to push it up. I then lowered the weight to 135, did it x10 for like a late warm up cuz it was what my friends were benching. I added in two more sets like an idiot cuz I wanted my chest to be the way it was before and I managed to do 183 3x3. Now my friends bench failed kinda as bad as mine did today also. We're thinking it could be that we're over training. Monday we did explosives for our chest. What do you guys think the problem is? I was also thinking about changing the days around and making monday the heavy day for my chest so after sat-sun Its fully rested. Any input would be great...Im still kinda mad that I failed so miserably on top of that, the pictures I took came out blurry and large as hell, they are a discrace to the gallery..

So you only ate 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese all day, and then tried to set a 30lb bench PR???

    lol

Yeah, theres no way youre gonna have the energy to hit a PR with that kind of shitbucket diet.

You should also be warming up before you try for that PR, not just walking into the gym and putting your head under 250lbs. Not only is it dangerous, but it will hinder your attempt.
