Hiit

When i was going throuhg the Diet and Nutrition section of this forum, people kept metioning HIIT as a really good cardio exercise, but i got no clue what HIIT is.
Currently I jog at 6mph for 3 miles, would HIIT, whatever it is, be better and deliever the same amount of calories burnt for me?

HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. Do a search on it and you will find in dept explinations but in general it is varying the intensity of your cardio training. It can be done with any form of cardio, running, biking, elyptical, etc.....Lets take an elyptical for example. Start at a very light setting for 30 seconds then go to a very difficult setting, ie: starting at 1 jumping up to 10 or 12. Now vary these two back and forth for 30 seconds each. Or if you have been jogging you can sprint for a certain time frame/distance then jog then spint jog sprint jog etc etc..

it says that i should only do it 3-4 times a week, but i like jogging everyday of the week (if i don't jog, i feel bloated for the entire day, I also feel bloated if i don't do situps every day) so would it be alright if I went at 6mph for 30 secs then 8 mph for 30 secs then 6 mph for 30 sec the 8 mph for 30 secs etc. for 20 minutes each day? and would that give me the same effect of what i use to do (jog at 6mph for 3 miles every day)?

if fat burning is your main goal than HIIT is far superior to jogging. jogging does very little to increase the RMR after the training session...

Well my main goal isn't so much fat burning as toning up my lower abs (and thighs so when i sit down they don't go everywhere), because i lost weight so fast and unhealthy, I have a little bit of loose skin on my lower abs that i can pull out, thats why i do 320 siups 4 days a week then on the other 3 days of the week i do 480 situps.

toning = increasing defenition

increasing defenition = fat burning via increasing the RMR

sit-ups are useless do crunches

I would stick with the HIIT if you want those final abs to come in. You could try some weighted ab exercises to build the muscles up as well as decreas your body fat via HIIT cardio. Jogging may feel good but it doesn't fo much for ya, at a slow rate. I guess if you feel you really need to do it do HIIT a few times a week then add a little joggin in the other days. Almost seems a bit overkill to me but to each is own. To much cardio will actually do more harm then good b/c you will start to burn the muscle rather then the fat and loose your LBM. Just a thought for ya.

Now that you sparked it, what are your stats? If you lost that much weight where the skin is all over you may consider bulking up a little and adding some LBM rather then dieting away to nothing. It will fill you out some and help to reduce the extra skin.
