When to do deadlift?

I occasionally did deadlift on my leg days for about the past couple years. I came home from school and started lifting with my brother and he has been doing deadlifts on his back day at the end of his workouts and claims it has been giving him great results. I was curious which day (lifting group) do most people do deadlifts.

Also I was curious about shrugs. I always did them when I was doing shoulders, but i noticed many people doing them on back day.

I would do standard deads on back day for sure. If you're doing stiff-leg deads, those are good for leg day.

I shrug whichever day I plan to do traps. Usually, shoulder day, but u can train traps on back day if you like that split better.

But when you disarm them, you at once offend them by showing that you distrust them, either for cowardice or for want of loyalty, and either of these opinions breeds hatred against you.

i like to put my deadlifts and shrugs together on back day so i make sure they get hit hard. if i dont, i dont see any results at my traps.

cutting sucks.

Back day. If you do deadlifts properly, then you shouldn't stimulate your legs nearly as much as your back.

Psoas is definitely involved in deads, but to say its the most important thing is quite a stretch

Lats, traps, erector spinae, quads, hip flexors, gluteals, and forearms are all involved to some degree

I think it depends highly on one's form. However, if done like a powerlifter, then I believe the erector spinae is the most important muscle involved.

not a stretch at all man, the movement is started with the hams and hips, then the torso. Otherwise its just a stiff legged dead

I agree that the movement is started with the hip flexors. I guess it comes down to semantics at this point. Which part of the movement is "most important"?

Gentlem gentlmen...you both have it wrong lol....the hip flexors ( illiopsoas, rectus femoris, sartorius and tensor fascia lata) don't activate during the deadlift! The hip extensors, gluteus maximus and hamstirngs (semimembrinosis, semitendinosis, biceps femoris) are what is driving the bar up. You upper back (traps, rear delts, rhomboids, lats) and biceps are holding the dead weight and your spinae erectors are going to lock you out.

Yeah...um...drugs are bad...dont do drugs! I hardly even drink anymore, but from time to time, I just gotta have a wild night. I always regret it the day after and get that much more focused on training and diet.

I probably average 6-8 per month. Usually all in one night.

Its amazing how laid back the cops are about herb up in Montreal. The shits EVERYWHERE! You get caught drinking and driving though and they just about put you in front of a firing squad.

IN my opinion if you are drinking and driving you deserve to be put in front of a firing squad. There is no excuse for that stupidity. I am ashmed of myself that I used to do it so much. I will never drink and drive again.
