Swimming 5-8 laps after a workout?

I seem to be a little more sore the next day, if I just do a couple laps in the pool after a workout (usually chest). Does anyone advise against this?

I mean, I don't want to overtrain, I currently do:
    Bench Press (x4)
    Incline DB Press (x4)
    Chest Machine (x4)
    Machine BP (x2)
    Machine I-BP (x2)

Would it be too much to add a couple laps on top of this?

    Thanks!
I don't train hard, eat right, and do the things I do for others. I do it for myself.

drop the machine bench press, and what's the chest machine,
i like doing one exercise with a flat bench, decline bench, incline bench, and a fly movement to finish it off, swimming can also make you sore to i go swimming pretty much everyday in the ocean but it is later in the day a couple of hours after my workout, it should workout your shoulders/lats more then your chest

No swimming (cardio) on the same day as a workout. Do it on a rest day..!

    Contradictory Statements... hmm lol

    Which one to do? hehe

I also like your Flat/Incline/Decline/Fly idea, I might actually try that, you got some good results off it, it looks like.

I wouldnt swim right after a workout. Cardio sucks.

Swimming would probably be awesome for a depletion workout/iron cardio, though.
