How Many Reps With Bodyweight (Bench)

How many reps can you get with your bodyweight?
Just wondering, my partner was talking about a three mile race in which you get time bonuses based on how many reps you can do on the bench with your bodyweight and I was thinking it may be fun to train for.

i can do 180 for 3 sets of 8 with my feet up on the bench , and lowering it slowly and contracting at the top(which wastes energy), i weigh about 160 so how much do you guys think i can do for one all out set without worrying about contracting my chest and triceps?

SJ69, when you go to the top you contract your tris and squeeze your chest, without doing that and just going through the reps as fast as possible.

Yep, he has a couple in his gallery now, but his underwear pic I think 230 some @ 8% ? with 19 inchers was probably the best I've seen, side shot.

Thats about a 500 incline by the way.

Last time I did that was in my 2nd year in HS, I was in the 220-230lbs back then. I don’t remember exactly how many times I got it but I know it was something between 10-15. High repetitions have never been my strong point, there where kinds that benched 30+ lbs less than me and could get just about the same # of reps as I.

benching wether flat, decline or incline has always been my forte. right now I'm doing some Dogcrap Power Training so the incline is my major chest movement for the time being until I hit another plateau...

Thanks LAM. Great thread. Funny, some of those concepts are things I do now. Of course I arrived at that in a haphazard manner . Mainly, focusing on a particular movement and trying to get the most improvement I can. Once I bottom out, switch to something different and focus on it. I will re-read that thread as it contained a lot of good information.
