Strongman...help

Greetings,
I am an American, but I have been living in Rusia for the past 11 years. I just started working out half a year ago. I was invited today to participate in a strongman competition in the town of Furmanov in 15 days. I am by no way in perfect shape, but have always been strong and stand just as good of chance as the other turkeys competing. I do not due squat due to bad knees. What kind of advice can you give me as to what i can do to prepare the best i can in a short amount of time ( 15 days ). I work out at home and only have dumbbells, barbells and 420 lbs of weight. I do not have access to modern equip. in the gyms. The weight I workout with on the bench press is only 198 lbs ( 3x10 ). This is pretty wild to me and will be for the small city also - an American in their country town competition. Thanks ahead of time for any advice.

Who invited you?

I don't train hard, eat right, and do the things I do for others. I do it for myself.

....did I mention the ladies too???

how can you do a strongman contest and not squat? Almost every event originates from the hips!!

Sounds like an injury waiting to happen IMO! The guys involved in these competitions train extensively for strength and explosivness. Not something you can just walk into and compete.

But when you disarm them, you at once offend them by showing that you distrust them, either for cowardice or for want of loyalty, and either of these opinions breeds hatred against you.

Strongman competitors train in insane ways, too. They don't do lunges. They run uphill with 200lb logs on one shoulder, etc.

I suggest you kindly withdraw and save yourself an injury.

yay.

And if its a traditional strongman comp, it wont be going to a squat rack and knocking out reps. You'll be doing all kinds of crap that you can't get ready for in 15 days. Plus, you dont know what the contests are so you cant prepare for them. Sounds like trouble. You got balls for even considering to do it.

Sorry, I guess I didn't mke myself clear. It's not a real " official ' strongman competition. It is in a small city with some locals competing to promote drug awarness. Some of the contestants will be half serious bodybuilders, some will be guys that had a little too much vodka that morning. My friend that invited me is the three time Russian bodybuilding champion. He invited me and said I stand just as good of chance as anyone else. I'm just looking for a couple of ways to gain a little strength in a short time.

hahahahaha....Sounds fun!!....aren't we all "strong like bull" after too much vodka??...You got bads knees and 2 week to prepare?? I wouldn't sweat it too much, it being for drug awarness and all, just have fun. Be aware of your limits and don't hurt yourself.

I agree, in 2 weeks there is no way to prepare for strongman contest. You should just go out and have a good time and do what you are capable of doing.
