Splitting exercise sessions

Is it alright for me to do my cardio in the morning after breakfast, and then my weight training at night after supper or my last snack of the day? or would I get better results if i did it all at once?

I rarely do cardio on my workout days (Only my ab day really). I'd do light cardio if anything in the morning as a warm-up and then weight lift after. You won't see the same results working out at night if you were to work out in the morning instead. The more post-workout meals with protein you get after your workout the better results you'll probably get.

I would say splitting the routing for an AM and PM session is a great idea. You’ll be able to work with more intensity than if you just cram it all into one workout. Plus for me personally I feel like I have more energy throughout the day than busting my ass in just one session. Just make sure you don’t work out too close to the time you go to bed, some people have trouble sleeping when they do that. Also you don’t want to work out after you last meal of the day and go right to sleep bro, always get something to eat after you’re done with your workout.

ok thanks, i wasn't sure if i'd get results if i spilted it..also i'll try to eat something after my weight training i usually do it an hour before i go to bed, i find it helps relax me
also is there any negative effects of doing cardio on weight training days? I usually do cardio everyday, I skip inbetween a medium/high intentisty for 3 minutes then for 1 minute i do this thing i saw in a magazine (you put your hands up like you were gonna start boxing except with your palms facing you, then you turn to one side and lift one leg and touch the same elbow - it's suppos to be cardio and a ab workout) and i repaeat that for like 24 minutes.

It depends on your goals. If your goal is to lose bodyfat, then I would do cardio at one of two times: immediately after lifting or first thing in the morning before eating food. Your body is in a catabolic state at both of these points in them, therefore fat burning is optimized.

If you want to gain muscle mass, then I would avoid doing cardio on the same days as your weight training sessions. For the most muscle gain, you probably shouldn't even do cardio.

If you just want to maintain an overall healthy and fit body, then your current method works fine. Splitting workouts up is a great way to make it easier to fit working out into a busy day.

but wouldn't that mess up my cardio? caused i'd be burning mostly carbs and everything instead of fat if i did it at night wouldn't I? Dosen't cardio increase your RMR more than weighttraining, or at least that what i thought cause you elevate your heart rate more don't ya?

weight training burns more calories over a 24 hour period than does traditional low-intenstiy long duration cardio. I'm not sure how it compares to HIIT over a 24 hr period.

regardless increasing LBM burns more calories in the long run than any form of cardio. so the more muscle you have the more you will burn at rest..

I always do a 15 minute warm-up on the treadmill to get my heart rate up but I don't count that towards my weekly cardio...

Well what if i skipped for 10 minutes at a medium/high interval then i did my weight training and then ended it with another 10 minutes of skipping? would that still give me the benefits of what i usually do with cardio?
I skip because i find it easier (now that my calves are getting use to it) and skipping at a medium/high pace for 3 minutes is equal to 6-9 minutes of jogging at 5.6 mph
