Is it reasonable?
Is it reasonable to expect to gain 2" to the upper arms in two months?
I realize that genetics come into play. I also realize that the training routine is also (quite abviously) a determining factor. I've studied up on the various body types: ecto, endo, meso and have concluded that I'm a meso body type. For clarification, I do understand that you can be a combination of body types but I don't seem to have much in common with ectos (I'm not thin and gain muscle fairly quickly) or endos (I don't gain fat quickly and don't have soft rounded features). A for my routine, it's cetainly seems hard to me! I work out six days a week and work every body part twice per week. I'm also careful to look for signs of overtraining. The reason that I ask is that I have absolutly no knowledge of how fast the human body can grow. None at all. Ask me if it's reasonable to rebuild an engine in 8 hours. I have no clue. Thanks for any insight! |

If you put 2" on your arms in 2 months make sure you post the specifics of your cycle 'cause I'm gettin' on that juice.
Seriously I don't think it can be done.

It could happen...if you're new to training and you have above average genetics it is possible to but 2" on your upper arms in two months. If you do everything right and it is your first couple months of training and you are young, anything is posssible. The human body is made to work and adapt...2" on your upper arms in 2 months is not typical but possible.
If you are a teenager and your diet is perfect gains should come really fast...people will think you are on drugs...expect alot of strecth marks if you do gain 2" on your upper arms in 2 months. I started to lift again after a 3 yr layoff and I am sure I put an inche+ on my upper arms in less than a month (memory cells)...just remember 2" is alot but it is possible don't let anyone tell you it is not...don't be dissapointed if all you gain is a 1/2 " to your upper arms in 2 months, don't be dissapointed if you gain nothing in 2 months. It varies alot from person to person how fast they adapt to weight training, 2" in 2 months would be rare but it is possible. |

...he was already told that gains like that are not typical...he is new to bodybuilding...it was a reasonable question that deserved a resonable answer. |

cfs3, I to am new to body building. I'm 31 as well. I started training 4/1/04. My arms 14 1/4'' right and 14'' left. I didn't train very hard for the first six weeks, but since then I've been extremely dedicated in the gym. At last measurement on 7/15/04 my arms were at 16'' right and 15 1/2'' left.
Be careful, once you start to see results like this you want to train constantly (at least I do). |

When I started body building I was 212 lbs. @ 6'4'' I'm on the loose side as I've recently lost a lot of weight, but otherwise in very good shape. I'm now 228 lbs. |

Can it please be explained WHY it isn't possible to add 2" to your arms in 2 months?
Can you do it? Yes. What will it take? It's going to take an incredible diet. I'm not talking about a diet where you take in 4000 calories a day, I'm talking about a diet that includes 10,000 or more calories per day at least. Also, you shouldn't be wasting your time on biceps if you want to simply get an arm that measures larger. Work your triceps. They're bigger, they're stronger and they are the key to getting massive arms. Example: My arms are about 16" unflexed. If I flex my biceps, they're maybe 16.5". If I flex my triceps, they're just a hair over 17".
yay.

...P.S. ...I almost added 2" to my arms in my very first couple months of training...if it wasn't 2" it was pretty close....don't forget about squats for upperbody growth...you have to believe it to achieve it.

In my opinion I don't think it is reasonable. This would be an exceptional accomplishment to gain 2" on arms in 2 months. I'm sure there are people that have acomplished this. But reasonable to expect it... NO ![]() |

Unless, you just lost 2" due to not training and know you can get it back quickly due to muscle memory.
