running or long walks better for fat loss??
yeah unfortunately i proved i have no self-control and my diet that started today ended in only...3 hours, lol, damn nutri-grain bars, cant stay away from them. I ran 2 miles first in the morning, but my question is...if i just eat normally and run 2 miles first thing in the morning, is that good enough to lose some weight??? Also, would you say 45 minutes of walking or 30 minutes of running (equalling 2 miles for me) is better for fat loss???

running is better for fat loss but in order to get best results I have found that sprinting a block then walking 2 and repeat for 30 minutes is the best for me. I make my heart beat in and out of cardio range and the lbs. pour off.

high-intensity exercise like sprinting is 10x better than walking. when you perform maximum effort exercise your metabolic rate will remain elevated for hours after the training session oxidizing fatty acids for fuel...
personally I would rather go the track and go all out for 15-20 minutes than walk for an hour. especially since you are spending less time training for far greater results...kind of a no brainer |

Italina44, is it possible for you to keep your political opinions to yourself?
Not sure about anyone else, but I for one am tired of seeing and hearing every body's stinking opinion on the upcoming election and candidates. I have a strong opinion on the matter, but will save it for the appropriate forum. I for one don't think this is the appropriate forum, this is a bb/fitness forum and website. Is anyone else tired of hearing everyone else’s opinion besides me? |

doesn't bother me, If they want to voice their opinion then let them besides it is their signature. so really they aren't posting in the wrong forum. Anyone that is voting based on a Micheal moore movie is voting based on bigger lies than the politicians are putting out there.

the reason i have no self control but still have junk food in the house is because...im only 18, and i dont buy the food. my parents buy the food for the week, and they buy nutri grain bars and pecan spintwirls every week, ALSO buy ginger snaps too. but i dont think ginger snaps are bad to eat

i dont know the macros of ginger snaps but i can assure you they arent going to help you burn any fat. doing cardio and eating ginger snaps is kinda like eating a whopper and a diet coke. whats the point?

I really would say a lot of mean things about you since your supporting Kerry based on a biased movie with many conspiracy theories.. But I won't also the fact that you haven't done your research on the movie to know all the falsehoods and satyrical aspects of the film based on known liar Kerry is ... I'll stop now.
I'm going to vote on a President based on their voting record. Since Kerry voted against the M16, Apache, AC130, M1A1 Abrams Tank.. among many many other things. I'll have to say no to him. Interval training with sprinting + jogging = the best Hope this helps. |

Alternate between HIIT and longer cardio sessions of 30 minutes, or you will burn out and become bored.
I matched on the presidentmatch.com 74% for President Bush! |

Walking's nowhere near as good. Best running plan seems what was mentioned above, interval training: running interspersed with occasional intense sprints is best for fat burning and avoids overstressing the CNS as you would be done with only sprints. Interval training's also more interesting, less monotonous.

After cooling off on my political views and reading some good information from the others, I have cooled down...
Before I started lifting, I ran. I began running due to the fat pills I consumed every morning at work. I stopped the taking the pills and began to run. Below is what worked for me. 2 miles per workout, 4 days a week. Lost aprox. 30 lbs in 3 months. I would run to improve my time, every time I ran. Over three years of running in this fashion I had gone from 225lbs to 168lbs and kept it off. I would eat pretty lean, and cheat on the weekends occasionally. I was down to a 12:18 for two miles at age 31, 5:43 for 1 mile. Intensity is key to any cardio. The higher the intensity level, the less you will have to do. My opinion based on my experience.... I LIKE BUSH! |
