    Legs?

I have been weight training for one year now and I have only done upper body... I don't do lower body at all... Doing legs is the hardest part of weight training IMO and it's a lot of pain in ur upper body while doing lower body exercises like squat. I also do not know what is a good leg workout and stuff. Can you guys tell me something that might help me please?

Go to www.exrx.net to look for exercise suggestions, but don't necessarily follow the form in images exactly. It sucks in several of the lifts.

if you don't have access to a Gym then go with,

    *Squats
    *Lunges
    *Straight Leg Deadlifts
    *Single Leg Calf Raises

for an all round workout & quick results. higher reps (12-15) usually work better for legs.

I know it costs money but if you want a good list of excercises, weightlifting terms and details of the physiological effects on the anatomy of each muscle that is worked out from an excercise Arnold's bodybuilding encyclopedia is pretty good.

Leg workout is essential. It doesn´t contribute only for the legs but for the body in general. It increases hormone release more than anything.

Leg day rocks, get on it man. Squats (many variations - Hack, Smith Machine, etc) plus leg curls/straight leg deadlifts, leg extensions, calf raises (many variations). My gym is on a second story, I know it has been a good leg work out when it takes me four minutes to get down one flight of stairs. We have a few guys in my gym that have pretty good upper body routines and hit the upper body without paying attention to the legs. They look silly. Little stick legs on nice upper bodies. Not cool.

one good way to hit your lower quads is useing a leg press machine and putting your feet lower on the pad of the sled. that hits them real nice and helps with bringing out the one muscle in your leg that looks like a teardrop. but keep in mind when doing leg presses, or squats never lower your legs to were your knees are in your face. if you do your going to risk blowing out your knees.
Every time I step into the gym I know I'll walk out a little stronger.

Yes, and also can put too much strain on your lower back which you don't want.

My physical therapist (also basketball coach, and trainer) has given me a routine but told me to kick out the leg extensions and leg curls for it puts too much stress on the knees, and could lead to many problems. I'm not sure how you feel on that, but I know playing basketball daily at a high level, knee problems occur alot just from playing, and any more stress on my knees will kill me. -zach

Take some fish oil because it is a natural anti inflammitory and will reduce the pain as well as help lubricate the joint better, also glucosamine supplement could help a lot.

Personally, I do leg extensions and love them.

    here's a poem i made a few months ago.......
Down the road in a gym such as yours,
a youngster with chicken legs strolled through the doors,
Wearing baggy pants to cover his legs,
"WILL ANYONE HELP, he harshly begged,
"No matter what I do, my legs won't get huge!"
I tried Extensions, Leg Curls and Leg Presses too."
Trying to cheat, through the sissy workouts he'd do,
After a set of extensions, his workout is through.
From the corner of the gym, where the monsters train,
through a cloud of chalk and the sound of pain,
where the big iron rides, and threatens lives,
where the noise is made with the Big Fourty - Fives,
a deep voice bellowed, as he wrapped his knees,
a very big man, with legs like oak trees,
Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack,
Chalked his hands, and his Monstrous back,
said, "Boy, Stop Lying And Don't Say You've Forgotten!!!!
Trouble With You Is That You Ain't Been Squattin' !!!!
"Don't sit and say i wish i had legs like you got,
just get under that bar, and shut up and squat"

Thanks ladies and gents, i'll be here all night long...........FLEX
