Lay down clench your abs together as tight as possible and crunch them together by lifting your upper torso and head/neck up several inches. Keep your spine in a straight line, do not bend your head all the way forward driving your chin into your chest...this is where people say crunches are bad for you b/c they hurt your neck and back. Then lower yourself down and repeat 3,346,843,847 times! Id recomend some weighted ab excercises so you don't have to spend all day doing crunches.

No your abdominals are one muscle group they cannot be targeted individualy. Every ab excercise works ALL the abs no matter what people say. If you want you lower abs to be visible you need to spend more time in the kitchen b/c thats where you will find em. Abs are brought out with proper dieting.

Ok, ty il try this out. Its just that after about 50-100 crunches i would get a really sore back and would need to stop, even though i would be able to do more.

Don't concentrate on "sitting up" , concentrate SOLEY on contracting your abs . You dont need to 'sit up' more than 2-3"

How do you guys hold the weight for weighted crunches? Personally, I hold it against my chest with my arms crossed over it.

Thats the way i do em, or on a bench with cables. Grap the ropes from the bottom pulleys and give it hell!

There should be some machines in the gym for em, but you can also use cables. Set the weight and grab the top pulley, drop to your knees and try to touch your head to the floor contracting your abs the ENTIRE way. Also lay on a bench with some weight on your chest and do crunches or situps. Some others I like are knee raises on a bench or leg raises on a dip rack. Just hold a DB between your feet and do them the normal non weighted way, really feels awsome.

Yes simply cross your arms over the weight on your chest. You can do leg lifts with a dumbell, knee raises, twisting crunches, side crunches focusing on one side of the obliques. Anything is possible at home you just need to get creative.
