Good work, man. Anytime 355 pounds feels light, I'd consider it a good sign![]()
Well thinking that all hope was lost when I went back to school I was benching 245. Then I came home and benched 355 for two reps. It's amazing what happens when you take a week off from heavy bench pressing. But 355 felt sorta light so I'm going to add about 10 more pounds and see what happens.

Not trying to put you down or anything but it was two reps and it was your first set.
What does that have to do with anything?

true but I didn't know how much I could do so I didn't want to get stuck because I didn't have a spotter.Originally Posted by Vieope

I understand the sets and number of reps matters. I am always amazed when i hear of people benching a lot more than me. Granted that most are a lot more experienced lifters than me, I have a question. I can do 140 (70x2 db) on my 4th set for 6 reps, kinda close grip (i.e. holding db together). Is that considered good or mediocre?Originally Posted by Vieope

Dumbell presses are harder than regular barbell presses so, yes, you are doing very well! I know guys who can bench over 200 who can't dumbell press 70's simply because they've never trained that way.Originally Posted by BulkMeUp

What's your max barbell bench, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks EvilAnt.
Dont know my max BB bench as i never did bb bench, ever!Originally Posted by Evil ANT
I know that sounds strange. But being an ecto, i started with the machines and moved to db as i didnt have anyone to spot me (and still dont). I have been training with db ever since. It helped me get my left arm, which was a bit weaker, on par with strength with my right.

Well, if it's working for you, then that's awesome. You should work with a barbell to help develop your chest and to also see what your true limits are. If you don't have a spotter, just start out light and go from there. I almost never have a spotter so I have to play it safe as well.
Either way, if you can dumbell press 70's that's very impressive. I'm sure you can barbell press well over 200 pounds.
my old max on bench 3 months ago was RIGHT at 200
but working out with dumbells i usually used 55's....so whatever that tells ya
man, I juts gotta say thou V, I got love for you bro, but thats some fucced u shit to say to this guy. Anytime you are making PRs thats something to be proud of. I train in the low rep range, so does that discredit whatever weight I lift?? you should encourage him, not berate him b/c he's not as strong as other people. good job man. 355's a nice bench for sureNot trying to put you down or anything but it was two reps and it was your first set.
Yes, yes..a 355 bench is really nice of course. The thing is that it sounded like one of the ppl that I often see in the gym. They go there once a week, lift something heavy, with no proper form and they are happy with it. Get my point? I was too quick to judge him. Sorry goal_500_benchOriginally Posted by gr81
