    Body Fat

Sorry if it's not strictly a training question, but I don't where else to put it. Anyway....

Having slimmed down from 190 pounds to 155 pounds, dropped from a 34 waist to a 31 waist (UK size, is the US the same?) and having been going to the gym for a couple of months. I thought my body fat would have reduced as well.

So imagine my surprise when stepping on my brand new body fat scales to find my body fat weighing in at a hefty 22%. Which from the indices they supplied is at the top end of acceptable.

How can my body fat still be so high? At 5ft 11" and only 10st 11lbs, surely I can't loose much more weight? I look a bit skeletal as it is.

scales that use electrical impedance to measure body fat are highly inaccurate...you need to get a 7-point caliper test done
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Again LAM, many thanks for your help. Why do they sell them then? Surely they can be sued for false advertsing?

Even if the 22% is wrong in the first place are they wrong by the same amount each time. So that even though I am not 22%, by using the scales I can still track wether I am loosing fat or are the wildy innacurate every time?

Beyond all that was said, if you didn't lose the weight properly then you may have lost a lot of muscle in conjunction with that fat. However, if you think you look skeletal, then I doubt you are at 22% bodyfat. I don't even worry about my bodyfat percentage too much. I use the mirror as my gauge.
