oh man how do you come up with this stuff, V?

btw, strength athletes usually tend to want to look BIG although maybe not ripped to shreds or anything. Usually its a desire to be big and strong.

not really following this Q V? I used to be much more concerned about aesthetics, and I still am to some extent, but I am really all about strength, thats my number one priority. If you gave me a choice of being either 240-250lbs and shred, or 300 lbs and a relatively high BF, I would take the latter as long as I was strong as I should be at that weight, does that answer your question?

its not a bad question. Just in my years of hanging around forums (lurking and/or posting) i have never come across someone who consistently posted these strange (i can't think of the right word at the moment, so don't take offense) questions.

hey 81 T.O.M is on yourside again. obviously me weighing in at the psesent 272lbs and trying to go between 300-320, I'll take the strength. At 52 I'm probably a lot stronger then some of the ripped guys at 200-230 lbs. I still can bench more the I weigh by 88 lbs. Let the smart ones do the math if they can. By next yr I want to bench 400 x 2

If muscle looked like fat, then fat would have to look like muscle. Therefore, I would be eating as much crap as I could, most likely alot of Taco Bell, and would rarely workout.

Exactly. As good as Taco Bell, Mcdonalds, and Wendy's I'd still much rather stick to healthy, healthy, and healthy.

I would workout, but I would train purely for strength so that I didn't get muscular, which would be fat in this bizarro world that you have created.

If muscle looked like fat and fat looked like muscle, societies standards for appearance would not be the same.

You think that we like the muscle shape just because we know that it represents strength and health?

If muscle shape and appearance as we know it represented a disgusting slob, would you adore it?

I think this is something that is far too hard to debate. There is no proof either way. In addition, I think Vieope's implication with this thread is that standards for appearance would remain the same; therefore, I believe this statement is moot.

On a side note, you are looking very Dorian Yates like in your latest photos Mudge. Your lats are monstrous, in a good way.

Answer is simple. We would have been conditioned to "see" that muscle as attractive anyway. Skinny hunters were mostly dinner for their prey, so the strong "fat" looking hunter would have brought home the beef ... and looked real handsom to the finer sex for their efforts. Result? Fat boy gets the poo-nanny ...

That is where I donīt agree, I donīt think that it is a logical decision that we choose muscle because it represents health, strength or another thing. I think we choose it because of our senses, touch and vision. It looks more organized and it feels better. Although fat in women in the right place is sort of nice as well.

shiat...is the pope catholic? do fish swim? Of course. you shouls have worder the question, have you ever wanted to have a relationship with someone who is hot but has a bad personality. Of course we want to have sex with beautiful women, who cares about their personality..

You think that we like the muscle shape just because we know that it represents strength and health?
I think that no matter what being in shape implies about a persons character, we would see it as more attractive than an obese person, just for the simple fact that its more aesthetically pleasing. Alhtough an interesting side of the argument would be that back in earlier ages, being overweight was considered a sign of prosperity and wealthiness, if you were fatter, that meant you had the riches to afford to be eat lavishly. I tend to think that non one around then was really in great shape thou so they had no idea what an extremely muscular body looked like.. who knows thou. what do you all think about that?

Yes, fat was seen as similar to prosperity and fertility in women. That is a logical decision though, just like if you see a guy in a Ferrari you would assume that he is rich.
Think about this, letīs say that you never saw a women in your life. So they put you in a dark room to touch a hot model and a fat women, what do you think that you would choose based only in touch? I think blind people that have always been blind, just by touch know what they like in a partner. So I presume that is never because it is more healthy or anything that we choose one instead of the other.
