DB squats and deadlifts

Just finished watching video's on dumbell squats and dumbell deadlifts. Note: these were from two different sources. Both started with the dumbells to the side and went down where knees were parallel to the floor and back up. ? #1 What's the difference in the two, #2 except for the weight are these exercises as good as BB squats and deadlifts?

your grip is going to limit the weight you can use on DB squats by a huge margin, and the DB deads will be far too light to be result producing.

I think they might be more of an assistance type thing but no way are they comparable to using a barbell.

1) I don't think there is a difference. The two videos probably just call the same exercise by different names. One says squats becasue you are squating and the other says deadlift because of where the weight is positioned in relatin to your body (ie hands at side)

2) As said, grip strength will be a limiting factor. It is a great exercise though, I enjoy doing it, especially for high reps because I like to work my grip strength as well.
