I get a similar feeling in my left trap??..You explained it perfectly 'small electrical shocks'..I don't have any idea what it is either. It is mostly an annoyance if anything. It is a strange sensation though, I had it for as long as I can remember. It is nothing painfull, and I never thought to bring it up with my Doc.

I notice this also sometimes in my triceps while doing close grip dips. It doesn't worry me, but it would be interesting to find out what it is exactly.

    Its vernici worms.

When you workout, you sweat on the handles of your various bars. If you don't clean them (remove the moisture) you create a breading ground for vernici worms. They're small parasitic worms that flourish in the minerals found in sweat.

The next time you pick up your bar, the worms burrow through your skin and bread in your muscle fibers. This causes nerve problems that may feel like a twitching sensation or a slight electrical shock.

I recommend that you make a visit to your regular doctor.

Yea, I heard about that. The trainer at my gym was telling me about it tonight. You got the name wrong though - theyre Vermicelli Worms. At least, thats what we call them around these here parts.

Theyre pretty nasty buggers, causing severe muscle atrophy in a short period of time.

Either way, a visit to the doctor is highly recommended. Best part - steroid treatments for rehabilitation.

Oh crap I'm going to turn into a chemical freak now. I get these sensations in my traps every once in a blue moon but its been months, I've never gotten strange atrophy though.

Might be tweaking a nerve especially of you are finding it annoying. Does the sensation seem to run up towards your elbow or shoulder? I would be careful especially if you are feeling it when you are maxing.

Actually, I was trying to make a funny. Kinda sad that it turns out that I was close to a fact.

    Life has lost all meaning...
