    magazines

My dad reads men's health which i used to read with him (yes even tho i am a girl) but i realized a few weeks ago that men's health is shit. It seems like they have more advertisments and little articles on shit OTHER than building muscle! anyways i was at cvs last night and saw muscle & fitness with a cheerleader on the front. I opened it up and was really impressed with what i saw. My dad said that it was shit blah blah blah lol but i knew i was right with the magazine and stuff. but anyways what is a good muscle magazine to read? i really dont enjoy reading the women's magazine because you always see some skinny bitch with no muscle to her just toned up and she's bench pressing with like 10 lb dumbbells or doing flys with 5lb dumbbells (saw that in fitness rx for women last night) and that's just not me!! so i would rather read a man's magazine lol

Probably not really the answer you are looking for, but I much prefer the online magazines that are based off of message boards like this one. I get a lot more out of reading the articles at Mind and Muscle for example than I ever would out of a glossy covered flex.

Read em all. Theyre all shit, theyre all full of ads. But, theres often some good ideas packed inbetween the ads. Just go through all the musclemags at CVS, see which one or ones you like best.

But never discount the online mags either.

    Men's Health

I love Men's Health..they tell me that Quarter Pounders are healthier than Big Macs. Now i'm eating those up and am gonna get totally ripped. It's all because of them and their six pack abs SPECIAL on the front page of every single issue!! Where would I be without them?! Back to eating Big Macs I guess.

No, but in all seriousness i'd never EVER trust anything they say in that magazine. There was this special on how to get a six pack quick. They had this recipe for a shake to "help". I was looking at the protein and carbs on it...nearly 175g of CARBS or something like that...I was so shocked about that. No it was really somwhere extremely high up there..I just couldn't believe my eyes. Is that even possible 175g of carbs in a shake you drink for breakfast?!

Most magazines wont talk about drugs, however this doesn't mean some of the "models" inside do or do not use. I've come across an underwear model and a general model that use, just because guys are small doesn't mean they dont use.

Muscular Development is the best magazine out there. There's no BS, they're upfront on the subject of drugs and there are numerous excellent Q&As by professionals like Matt Duval, Dexter Jackson, Chris Cormier, Lee Priest, Johnny Jackson, Craig Titus, Chad Nichols, Hany Rambod that will teach anyone, even an advanced trainer, more in one month than a year's worth of "personal training" sessions. It is a hard core magazine and may be hard for a woman to relate to.

Muscle Mag is also very good and has started to feature women bodybuilders and their routines in recent months. Yes, the magazine has too many Muscle Tech ads, but just page through them.

I know that here and on other boards people say the magazines are bs, but I think many of you are doing yourself a disservice by not reading them at least on occasion. No one is so smart that they can ever stop learning. I am an advanced trainer who subscribes to three and each month, I learn at least one new thing from each of them. You have to be discerning and be able to cut through the chaff, just as you do at an online message board.

They are very hard to find. My supermarket carries Natural Bodybuilding sometimes. I haven't bought it for awhile. When I was, I got turned off because there was more "preachy" stuff about drugs and "woe are us natural bodybuilders" than on training and nutrition for the natural bodybuilder.
