Abdominal muscle showing come from DIET. Get that in order, do weighted ab work once or twice a week, and you should be fine.

Diet is the key. I choose not to use weights when I do abs. Sit ups do the trick. I do mine on an empty stomach or else I feel like I am going to hurl !
I do 2 sets of 100 sit ups....but start at what is doable for you. I started with 3 sets of 10.....two months later I am up to 120 sit ups at a time.

I do 12 rep situps with 155 pounds once (on occasion twice) a week. If my diet were good enough I'd assume I have nice abs

If you are not fat and you don't have abs then you probably don't have enough muscle mass on your rectus to even show abs at a very low body weight. Start bulking.

hey newbie, abs are probobly the hardest goal to get (unless you are trying to be a pro bodybuilder.) it took me 2 full years to get my diet habits in perfect order, these day i can sit next to people who are eating a bigass pizza and i will not take ANY, that takes time man beleive me, it sounds easy to get good diet but its no, but then again to some people a six pack commes easy, but i also get fucking anoyed with those skiney people showing their abs and thinking they are hot when in fact they are just skinny bitches.....( no offense to anyone )

Here is the routine used by all the pros; it is to be done daily:

    5,000 crunches
    3,500 situps

Do that, and you will have abs of steel.
