    Smile Opinions Please...

I was wondering if some of you would have a look at my last journal entry (Jan 10) and tell me if you think it's enough volume to grow. I'm trying to gain some size

Yes, I just started this high volume thing about 2 weeks ago. Before that I was doing real low volume strength training. I'm logging everything and I seem to be adding reps every workout....not adding weight though, I obviously had to drop the amt of weight I am using to compensate for the higher number of reps....I've been doing strength training for several months so the hypertrophy training feels a little weird, I still haven't found my groove so to speak....knowing what weights I can use for how many reps, etc.

I'm also not used to going to failure, so I gotta work on that, lol.

to get my metabolic rate to really go up and down i'd eat large amounts of quality foods for 2wks and 1 wk cutting real low calorie. it seemed to work,i'd hit good growth spurts doing it but it got old.i just love to eat

w8lifter...interesting workout alternating between chest and biceps. Yes, your volume is fine, and if you are progressing with your reps you should grow. However, as an experienced lifter, your body will adapt to your new routine quickly...3-6 weeks. So, in order to keep growth coming you will need to change your training parameters fairly often.

Yeah, my trainer started me on that split while strength training....basically you're working your smaller arms muscles twice a week...chest/bi, back/tri...I figured I'd keep it, it seems to work.

    I change my workout's every 4 weeks.

    Thanks guys

As long as you like it and it is working, than GREAT! Soon you may wish to incorporate intensity techniques like drop-sets, supersets, forced reps and negatives. I wish you luck with your training!

w8, It's good to see someone else is using the same workout routine that I'm using. My ex-workout partner and I used several differant trainer phylosophies to develop our weekly routine. It's a high intencity , one body part per/wk , oppossing muscle , max rest between primary ,and secondary muscles work ( just try to say all of that in one breath ). It works like this :

    Day 1..chest & bi's

    Day 2.. legs

    Day 3.. off

    Day 4.. shoulders

    Day 5.. back & tri's

    Days 6&7.. off

Off days we do our cardio work ( whatever it happens to be ).
Good going and good luck with your shoulder!
