Sprinting Problems?

This is an odd subject so I didn't know where to post it. OK well here it goes, I have gotten a new job where I have to sprint all day (valet parking) and I have run into a problem. Yesterday I got some extreme pains in my knees and it carried over to today. It was originally just sore, the muscles around the knees, but now there is just pain everywhere when I run.

Is it just overworking the muscles(I NEVER run let alone sprint)? And what could I do to fix the problem? I was thinking stretching but that may only help some of the pain. The rest of the pain, like in the knee cap and stuff I don't think will go away with stretching. Can anyone help me out here?

I'd say stop running.

Maybe your gate is messed up?

Maybe your patella is tracking a weird way?

Could be a number of things.

Yes, stretching is in order.

maybe some ice also.

rest is good too.

I wish I could stop running but if I did I'd get fired...just not gonna work with all my bills. I'm gonna stretch tonight before I go to sleep and see how I feel in the morning before work. Hope it heals up some or I adjust to it.

do light dynamic stretch, and some static stretch afterwards.
Also take notice of your running form.

Yea I think form has alot to do with it. Today I pulled a 13 hour shift and I'm hurtin' now. I know the shoes aren't the greatest for running b/c they have no shock absorbing properties...I need to get a pair of black running shoes to see if that helps out some. How should proper running form be like..was never a big runner?

My right knee feels as if the two bones are rubbing together with no cushion...just straight up pain like I'm missing something in my knee lol don't know if that makes sense.

What the hell does the color of the shoes have to do with it?

Anyway, proper running form is opposite knee comes forward with opposite arm, if you are sprinting your heels should hit your ass while you pull that knee forward.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

TY

I don't mean the color has anything to do with performance, but I wear a black uniform to work and the shoes I wear must be all black.

Elbows 90 - 110 degrees (relaxed, not locked; hands drive behind hips and go to shoulders)
Neck, shoulders, arms, hands relaxed
Stay on balls of feet (drive feet under center of gravity, pushing not pulling with legs)
Keep acceleration lean (straight line from ear to ankle)
Keep head up (look where you are going)

This is not mine, by the way, I don't remember where I got it, though, maybe www.explosive power.com

Your problem is in the shoes. You need to force your running form from heel to toe - when your foot hits the ground, you need to roll the foot from heel to outer of foot to toe before lifting back up. Only sprinters (on a track) every really run just on their toes (or balls of the feet). So, your shoes are not supporting your heels; which means that everything up from the heel is affected. Running is not meant to hurt, but running with improper form does hurt. Improper shoes cause improper form; thus, shin splints, knee aches, hips, and shoulder issues all stem from the shoe.

I will try to run heal to toe from now on and once I get some bills paid off I'll get some new running sneakers. I hope it works cause my knees are killing me!
